How to remove the background from a video with PowerDirector and ColorDirector. The motion mask tutorial for PowerDirector 15 will show you how to mask an object in a video and then remove it or remove the background from the video. Wow this is so helpful. I LOVE your tutorials.....you make it so clear. I make piano videos and I like filming out in nature. But I’m wanting an alternative for the winter so was experimenting with putting a big green screen behind the piano , lighting it etc but it’s been an epic fail so far! In case nobody has mentioned it already, to erase a mask there is an easier method: instead of going to the erase option on the mask tool options, you can toggle the mask/erase options by just holding down the "Alt" key and It will reverse whatever option you are using. For those of you who are users of Photoshop, a lot of this is intuitive and will also work on Powerdirector.

I've been trying to figure out how to do this for a couple months!!!! Thank you for this video!!!!!!!!! I will be watching more!Have a question/request: Is there a tutorial for how to make a " Terminator" style affect in PD15? I've experimented with some of the affects, and I get it about 60% where I want it, but its just not good enough. I want to do the FULL " Terminator" style affect, with the text scrolling on the sides, and a " targeting" reticule. I know it's going to be complicated, but that's my ultimate goal. Another great tutorial. Having trouble - despite turning the exposure and brightness turned all the way down and contrast all the way up, replacing with green, then turning tolerance all the way up - I still get most of my background showing through (in all new strange colors and outlines). Any thoughts? Thanks!!

This is so bloody good, saves you doing a greenscreen video. What if I want to put myself in a movie and replace myself over the movie character, can I do that with this tutorial. Or do you have a separate video for this.

Yes you can. You would have to setup your shot perfect to replace your self where you remove the person.

Hi Maliek, great video, thank you. Could I ask a question please? When I get to the stage after inverting the mask and clicking on the eye dropper to get the original colour, every time I try to choose green from the New Color menu, regardless of which colour I click on, I can only get white. Could there be something wrong with my Color Director settings or could I be doing something wrong somewhere along the process? I would really appreciate your response. Many thanks indeed.
