I've discovered a site called remove.bg which is a free tool to separate a pic from its background. It used AI and is very accurate and easy to use. Definitely worth a try.
Hey Kamila I have a quick question. I have noticed that when you use the "mark area to keep" tool then your cursor is turned into a pen and you can draw it. But in my case it never turned to a pen, it either show the "+" or just straight line. Unlike you can draw freely where you want to keep the area. So could you help me out that how can customise this tools in my powerpoint? By the way, I'm using PowerPoint 2016 version. Waiting for your reply...
My Office 365 Power Point does not display the ribbon that yours does. Mine has no "Remove Background" or "Color" keys in the Picture Format tab. How do I get my ribbon to look and function like yours? I've tried both of my Office 365 subscriptions, and neither has it in either "classic" or "simple" ribbon mode.
That is odd. Even if you are using a MAC, that feature should still be there. Double check that you are working with a JPEG or a PNG image to open up those picture editing tools.
Hello, My name is Tracie. I will be teaching a class in Instructional Design at Cal State University Northridge. I would like to add your video into my class. In order to use them, I am required to add professional captions. Can I have your permission to download it then upload your videos to our university unlisted RU-vid account? It would be professionally captioned. I would share the caption file with you if you would like. Thank you so much, Tracie
I’m looking for this end result but operating on iPad and don’t have power point. Is there an app, preferably free or inexpensive, that can accomplish the same effect/result?
Glad you found the video helpful! If you ever need a quick refresher (or see other tips), you can check out out detailed blog post: nutsandboltsspeedtraining.com/powerpoint-tutorials/remove-background-from-image/
Yes, it's important to know what you can and can't do with any tool. For advanced photo editing, Photoshop is still the place to go. That said, most things you need to do with your photos you can do inside of PowerPoint.
Yes, right-click the picture, select Save As Picture and change the filte type to JPG. Just be aware that in most applications, your removed background will show as a white fill (not as a transparent background like it will in PowerPoint). If you want it to remain transparent for other programs, you will need to save your picture as a PNG instead.
Good job!!!! Very clear and precise!! It is a wonderful feeling to come across proper, clear, short and sweet training content without going around the bush for ever and ever.... Amazing job and keep it up! Thank you!
I agree! She got right to the tutorial, no fast forwarding which I usually end up doing in most videos to get to the section where the teaching begins. Her voice is nice to listen too, and this video is easy to follow along with: coupled with the fact, it moves at a good pace, yet not so fast I needed to pause to write something down at any time.
Great question. The remove background feature is not part of the online version of Office 365. To remove the background from an image, you will need to use the desktop app which has a bunch of additional features. Hopefully in the future they will add the remove background tool to the online version too.
Hi. My daughter like many other children is in lockdown and has been sent work by her school via the HUB. Whilst using the HUB to access her work she has access to Office 365. But only online. In PowerPoint After highlighting the image we wish to set background to transparent, we select the picture tab in the top. But we don't get the format option that is shown in this video anywhere. We've used PNG and JPG files and still the same outcome, no format option anywhere in any of the taskbar tabs. Is the internet version of office 365 different to the desktop version?
I think by basic version you mean the free online version of PowerPoint. I believe the remove background version is only available for the full desktop version of PowerPoint. So even if you have the Microsoft 365 subscription, you will need to use the desktop version of PowerPoint to do it (the online version lacks this functionality). I hope that helps answer your question.
Excellent video quality! I was looking for method 2 because I only need to make few adjustments and your video really helped me out. Thank you so much!
Glad that helped you out! Like most things in PowerPoint, there are a variety of different ways to get the job done. If you ever need a quick refresher, we wrote up all of the different ways to remove the background from an image in the following blog post: nutsandboltsspeedtraining.com/powerpoint-tutorials/remove-background-from-image/
Other than the PowerPoint app, I'm not sure. My guess would be that the photoshop app would allow you to do that, but sometimes apps lack the features of their desktop cousin programs.
Glad you found the video helpful, I appreciate the comment. If you ever need a refresher, I wrote the steps up in the blog post below. Cheers! nutsandboltsspeedtraining.com/powerpoint-tutorials/remove-background-from-image/
I don't think so. It also doesn't work if you are trying to use the Online version of PowerPoint. This requires the desktop version of PowerPoint (as a number of the advanced PowerPoint features do).
I'm trying to find a way to just save the image with no background/transparent background to my desktop for further use but I don't figure out how to "save" without the white slide background present. Would love some help.
Right-click your picture, select Save As Picture, change the file type to a PNG. That way your transparent background will be saved with the picture. JPEGS always fill in transparent backgrounds with a white background.
Thanks for the suggestion. What you can do is just overlay the background you want behind the photo that you remove the background for. That is a fast way to add your own user background. Just overlay the photos and you should be good to go.
You can right-click your image in PowerPoint and select "Save as Picture." That allows you to save the image to your desktop (or other folder) that you can then use in any other program.
Yes, Right-click your image and select "Save As Picture." You can then save it as a PNG to keep the removed background. If you save it as a JPEG the removed part of your image will be white instead of transparent.
Good Morning, how do I present a presentation in PowerPoint just putting my name and address and photo, Can you do something in PowerPoint for me. Thanks
To do that, you will just add a picture to your slide and insert a text box or shape and type your name into it. There is a lot more that normally goes into a presentation, but you can build your presentation anyway you like depending on how you want to present it.
Hey excellent Video , when i save the pic though to use it later on (right click on the pic and click save as) the quality of the pic is really lowered how can i keep the same quality? Is it possible?
Great question. First off, when you right-click and save, which file type are you choosing to save as? The PNG file type should give you the same quality photo as what's on your slide. If you feel it's radically different, double check that you didn't accidentally compress the photo to a lower quality version, see our blog post for image quality options: nutsandboltsspeedtraining.com/powerpoint-tutorials/powerpoint-compress-images/ If you want me to take a look at it for you, send me the two photo at taylor (at) nutsandboltsspeedtraining.com and I will take a look and see what's happening.
Glad I could help! You can check out my blog post on the same topic for more tips if you need them. nutsandboltsspeedtraining.com/powerpoint-tutorials/remove-background-from-image/
