Great series of videos so far! I had watched the 235 rebuild video and now am hooked on the whole series. About those shoulder bolts i've always heard them called carriage bolts. (just in case some of the viewers need to get replacements for their builds)

Hey Jeremy. I'm not needing to adjust the hood on my 49 Chevy and I sold the 49 GMC but I'll definitely do a vid if/when I have to adjust it. One trick to use is to place a 2x4 across the fenders right at the radiator then close the hood to where the front of the hood lays on the 2x4. Supposedly all you have to do is tighten the hinges up and you should be GTG.
Loved the video very very well explained, I have to do this exact thing to color match my firewall and inner fenders, I did an LS swap and completely overlooked those items 🥴 but this should be a breeze thank you sir!!!

Ends up breaking them off was better. I should have used a grinder on that top bolt instead of the air chisel. It did the job but covered me and the floor with nearly 70 yr old grit and grime, LOL.
Hello SIr, I was wondering if you would advise to lift the front of my 1950 chev 3100 from the center of the front axle? I have it raised probably 15" or so in the back (on jack stands) and would like to have it level all around with jack stands so I can work on it much easier. Would lifting from the center of the axle put to much stress on it and would it be safe to do so? I would appreciate so much hearing your thoughts. Thanks, Wendell Jones
Hey Wendell, thats how I've lifted the frontend of several straight axle trucks over years without any problems or side effects. After I get it lifted by centering the jack dead center of the front axle I then place jack stands directly under the spring perches on each side and lower the truck on to them. That way the weight gets evenly distributed on the axle & springs. I also found out that it was easier for me to roll around underneath on large cardboard than on a creeper, but thats just me, lol. Larry, I added the turn signals back when I originally got it running. Turn signals were a dealer option back in 49 and most didn't opt to add them back then.
