Detailed video showing how to remove the trim from around the Gear Level on a Mk7 VW Golf. Please note it's hard not to damage the clips under the trim so be careful.
Hi, what year is this Golf? Is it like this on every Golf 7? I have a 2015 Golf GTD and i want to change that plastic, possibly without removing the whole center console.
Hello i want to change my silver trim to black but i cant find where to buy a black, did someone know where? This is the only video on yt how to change.. you have my sub..
If you scour the auto wreckers / car scrap yards you will find loads of MK7 Golf's and you will definitely find a black trim. The one challenge you will have though is if your Golf does not have the push button start, as the black trim usually come on the higher end Golf's which have the push button start. Other suggestion is just to put a black wrap on your existing trim - this may be an easier option. Thanks for watching.
RECALL ALERT! April 6th, 2022. (I live in the US) I just took my e-Golf in to get a replacement key yesterday (highway robbery for the cost of it!) and the dealership replaced this trim for free, saying it was under recall. I've also sliced my hand a number of times. It was really nice that they replaced it for free and it looks great again!
i have the mk7 golf base model with a manual parking brake, it’s a bit different around the cup holder and gearshift putter trim, is there any way you could help me with that?
Hi Neptun3, unfortunately the MK7 Golf's in australia all come with the electronic brake so I have not seen one with the manual brake. Next time I am at a car wreckers I will see if there are any Jetta's or Passat's with a manual handbrake with the similar trim. They are usually very similar. My general advice is make sure you have a good set of plastic and metal trim remover tools - they are really cheap on ebay. Make sure you don't pull too hard as most pieces of trim come off relatively easy, and you really don't want to snap anything. However worst case scenario is you pull too hard and snap something, and have to visit a car wreckers and get a new piece which is usually pretty cheap - certainly not the end of the world.
Hi Mate. If you use a plastic trim remover tool it is a lot hard to get the trim piece off. By all means try yourself first, but you will find using the metal tool is a lot easier. You are right though that you will need to be very careful to not scratch the surroundings. Thanks for watching, and remember to subscribe.
