What torque setting should the 5/16 bolts on the rear yolk be set to? I'm a big fella and have a tendency to overtorqe/strip bolts unless I know the torque specs. Thanks for your videos on the yj jeep driveline.
Not sure on the top of my head. The settings are probably online somewhere. I have always used the method shown and never had a problem. Thanks for checking out our videos.
We have it on a lift and in neutral. If you are on the ground make sure you chock the tires that are on the pavement and that the vehicle is on a flat surface to prevent it from rolling.
so this is what i need to remove if I am transfering it on a uhaul dolly trailer? they want me to disconnect the drive shaft...is there anything else i should do? great video, thanks a lot!
Yes. Do this before towing. You can put it on the tow dolly as normal so that you can secure the vehicle as shown on the Uhaul tow dolly video. Once it’s in you can get under easier to do the above disconnect. However, you don’t have to fully remove the drive shaft, you can just unlink it and wire it up so it stays under the keep while you drive. That way you don’t lose and fluids. Easier in my opinion.
I have a slip yoke eliminator on mine and the shaft will not budge from it. I have a leaking seal and want to replace it. I have the U-joint off at the rear diff. Any tips to get the driveshaft loose?
I've got the driveshaft off at the back and it won't come out of the transfer case? Is there something different I can try? Can I take the cone off for seal and bushing with the driveshaft still hooked up?
It should just slide right out for you. It it is stuck see if you can GENTLY use a pry bar maybe to free it up. It should slide right out as shown in the video.
