The washer model shown in the video is LG model WT56. The procedure is the same for model WT17 and many other LG and Kenmore washer models.

Always unplug the washer prior to servicing it.
Move the #washer out far enough to allow access for removing the 2 screws from the back of the top cover. One on each side. If the top cover is to be opened, the wiring harness ties must be released on the back of the washer to prevent damage to the wiring harness during service. The main wiring harness in this washer is anchored to the cabinet to protect it from damage during operation. The top cover cannot be opened without releasing the wiring ties. It is extremely important that the harness ties are remounted after service. Once the screws are removed, lift the rear of the top cover enough to clear the brackets on the cabinet. Slide the top cover forward until it stops. When you tip the top cover up, these brackets will fit down over the rear edge of the cabinet to support the cover. Lift the top cover clear of the brackets on each side of the cabinet. Slide the cover forward a few more inches then tilt the cover up so that the brackets on the back of the cover fit over the rear of the cabinet. Lean the cover against the wall, being careful not to damage the cover or the customer's property. To reassemble the top cover, all the brackets and anchors must be aligned. Side brackets on the cabinet fit into the slots on the sides of the top cover. The front tabs on the top cover engage with the brackets on the front of the cabinet. Lift the top cover so the rear brackets clear the cabinet and set it down on top of the cabinet so that it is aligned with the cabinet. Now, lift the rear of the top cover and slide the cover forward until the side brackets are engaged. This will result in the front tabs being in the proper position for engaging the front brackets. Slide the top cover to the rear until the back edge drops down over the cabinet brackets. The cover is now ready for the 2 screws to be installed. After remounting the top cover and before returning the washer to service, it is extremely important that the wiring harness is re-anchored to the cabinet. Remove the rear access cover and re-mount the harness ties that were released before opening the top cover.
Restore power to the washer by plugging the outlet cord back in. Move the washer back into place.
