Hi Paul. When I gat a bogey Triton ICP test I follow up with an ATI ICP test. It double checks the Triton results,, but most importantly they test your RODI water in a 3 test tube. Triton are really missing this important step in the puzzle.
Hi Sys... thanks and yes I have used them in the past. It will definitely be my next step if I can’t get rid of it... as I had a few normal ones for a few months and then three straight tests in a few weeks that showed Tin I am pretty confident it is correct but you are right that i have not checked the RO alone. I’ll let you know if I solve it or move on to try and ati version.. thanks 👍
Tin is more likely coming from any plastics (pipe work) it can also come off the glass… part of the process it goes through in manufacture includes something with tin in it I had the exact same issue when I had my first ICP completed, if it was corrosion you would no doubt see other metals elevated. If you do a search on reef2reef or google someone put some standard pipe work in a bucket in clean saltwater and tested the clean saltwater and also the saltwater that he put the pipe work in and the one with the pipe in showed high levels of tin 😩
Thanks Logan, really appreciate the feedback and advice. As I had 4 months clear with no tin at all it would suggest it was added later perhaps though hence the route I took but I will definitely circle back if it doesn’t solve it. I feel an episode 2 coming on 😬
@@paulukreefer5012 it’s a very strange one, but if you have seen rust on the fittings that were mounted to the underside of the sump this could be the culprit… like you I tore everything to pieces and I found nothing.. did the recommended water changes and it’s been 0 since. If your interested I have a sheet that will enable you to correct trace elements using say a triton ICP and correct using other brands of trace elements.. the triton trace elements are pretty low in concentration based on other brands.. so depending on trace element consumption rates it could save you some penny’s in the long run
