PurSteam is the one I use. Less than $40. Definitely not as good as a McCulloch, but also 1/4th the cost.

OMG! You are amazing. I followed your technique and it worked amazingly well. I was told that the tint couldn't be removed and that I'd need a new $700 windshield because the rear defroster would no longer work. Not only does the rear defroster and integrated FM antenna still work, but the window is perfectly crystal clear! It took about 20 minutes start to finish. Thanks!

Thanks, Brother for sending me in the right direction on getting one of those McCulloch MC1275 Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner with 18 Accessories -I need to get the tint off of a car I just bought and from reading all the other things I can do with it is a HUGE Plus !! For what I paid for the Steam cleaner I'm sure that a Tint Shop would have charged me at least a $100.00, so just a little bit more I have a cleaner now that will clean my interior and around my house. Dude, I Thank you so very much for the Info on the cleaner and got it from Amazon as your link showed. Danny

Francis Hello Francis FIRST OFF PLEASE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL! we really appreciate your support. Now, I’ve tried that process as well that takes time and not to mention it has to be good sunny weather for it to work. I can tell you from my experience I set the steamer in the back window shut all the doors and windows and between 7 to 15 minutes the tint and the glue peels right off like in the video! Now, I’ve since moved to a better steamer which is the McCulloch MC1275 Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner. You can find it on Amazon for about $139.00 if your not using it for business the the shark or and retail steamer SHOULDA do just find!

@DetailingSolutions
@DetailingSolutions 5 лет назад
Rosa Moss Hey Rosa first of all thanks for subscribing and liking the video it’s truly appreciate it but if in fact the glue was left on after the steaming process then we suggest just grabbing a bottle of either 409 or simple green saturating the back window for a few seconds and take either a very soft steel wool pad not the ones they sell in most stores those are too rough or a scrub pad and just scrub it right off It is more difficult to do it that way which is why the steamy process is supposed to make it easier but if there’s glue residue on it then this is the best step

I got lucky a 2nd time I got pulled over for window tint a few weeks ago, next time most likely won't be a warning. 1st was over a year ago, 3 years after getting a car with aftermarket tint that was legal in the state it was originally from. My mom has a steam shark, I'm finally gonna get around to doing this tomorrow, saw another vid of this method a couple weeks ago. It's super dark too lol, 5%. In the right conditions it basically looks black. I like it, it's just annoying when backing up at night though when there's no street lamps or other lights, can't see anything. It's rarely an issue for me though, but would still be nice if I'm ever needing to back up anywhere I'm less familiar with. I think it looks especially good on a black Impala LS with gold trims though. Not exactly sure what to call it, the lines on the side of the car, the side Impala logos, ect. Some gold colored rims would look awesome, but I don't care enough about my car's looks to put money into that. When I got my car repaired they went with silver instead of gold too for the Chevy logo on the grill, wish I would have said I wanted it gold. I actually remember he did say he couldn't find the gold though, would have been willing to wait as long as I knew how long if he asked. Some of the other gold trims were kinda worn looking though anyway, the thin stripe along the side looked more like a light tan than gold. The tint isn't worth risking a $175 fine though, and then I'd probably be forced to remove it too, but IDK if they'd actually force you to or if you'd just be risking continual fines, but that would just be crazy lol.

Hi. Two questions: 1. Would a heat gun be better because it would avoid all that moisture? 2. What is in 409 and is it essential? We don’t have it in the UK. Many thanks.
@DetailingSolutions
@DetailingSolutions 5 лет назад
Lukedishwasher ok first thanks for reaching out... but there are different schools of thought in how to remove tint just like most things I imagine. But I would say the steam is more efficient considering steam spreads heat further per square inch then Direct heat dose , also the moisture helps sweat the tint which creates moisture behind the layer of glue which allows it to loosen. This is especially helpful in regards to the rear windshield. You can just sit the steamer in the rear shut the doors for 15 minutes and come back an peel the tint right off (results may vary). 2ndly no the 409 is not essential you can use simple green or a light degreaser as well.

The problem with steaming is you not only remove the glue from the window, but you affect the glued parts all over the car. (When you leave it to steam for several minutes) The seats, console, dash, upholstery , and other glued parts in your car have been weakened. I think steaming from the outside is better.
@DetailingSolutions
@DetailingSolutions 5 лет назад
Hey buddy thanks a lot for the feedback!! But, I would have to respectfully disagree only because steam is hottest at its closest point of contact and the steam that circulates through the vehicle is essentially just a warm mist with very little heat attached to it, it actually gets hotter in your car in the summer time then it would with the residual steam. But let’s say your theory is correct, glue is only Soften when it is heated then it returns to a solid once it cools, same with the glue on the tint , if I took the steamer out and came back in about an hour the adhesive would re-harden and re-stick to the glass so I would say it’s very safe for the rest of the glued components in the vehicle.
@larrynelson7839
@larrynelson7839 Год назад
While you may be heating the glass from the outside, it you not getting the moisture to the tint film inside the window. Only using outside the window will not work. Plus the steam cools very quickly inside the car after it hits the back window. It won't affect any other glue. Although I would be careful around the headliner with the steam. As well as cover the back deck with plastic so you don't get water in any speakers or on the rear deck fabric.

On vehicles with fabric or high end leather door panels we place plastic over the door panels and use left over / scrap vinyl from wrap jobs to tape in place as masking tape will self destruct in seconds flat. Diverts 90 to 95% of the water run off.

This didn't work very well for me on old tint
@DetailingSolutions
@DetailingSolutions 2 года назад
Yeah one things for sure is that all tint is not made equal but what I’ve learned that with older tint that peals I have to rig the steamer to sit in front of the window and shut all the doors and after like 20 minutes it comes right off it’s sort of like sweating the tint out but the only way to do that is if you can shut all the doors, prop the steamer up in front of the window with say like a bucket or something or hang it on a hanger and roll the windows up that definitely will work but to be honest on those side windows it may be just a lot quicker to just peel the tent and scrape it off with simple green and a razor a lot of times we just do that instead of the hassle
