Removing automotive window tint can be simple with the right tools. The Jiffy Steamer softens the adhesive and allows you to peel the window film off of the glass, while the Super Stripper removes any left behind adhesive. Just go slow and be patient.

Good tutorial, Ralph, thanks for posting. I like your method of removal because you minimize the use of chemicals (no PPE required, no Ammonia stench), minimal use of materials (no garbage bags stuck to the car), and you are patiently methodical. Faster is not always better.

I love it! I just use a butane torch heat the outside it works even faster no glue is ever left behind.

Use acetone to remove the remaining glue after you pull the film off. I love the smell of acetone!

Spray the cleaner > wipe with paper towel> spray soapy water > squeegee with card> spray soapy water> scrub and squeege as usual

If you lease a car and return the car when the lease is over will they charge you if you tinted your windows ? Is it as advisable to get it removed before you return the vehicle ?

I usually just heat it with a heat gun and peel it off then go over it with a majic eraser with dawn dish soap sprayed on it then go over it with my rzr blade to get the excess

I have a question for anyone who can help. I had dark tint and got pulled by police. They made me remove the tint on the spot in order to get a £50 fine rather than have my car impounded. I got most of the visible glue off later but now my windows stick on a hot day and go up and down slower than before. What can I do to remedy this?

Great tutorial. I really hate the tint on my car because the police use it as an extortion tool from the public. Does this work for factory fitted tint as well

I went to my local tint shop to have my rear window tint and visor tint removed and reinstalled with new tint. They had a hard time getting the visor tint to come off. It would come off in flakes like you said some would. I asked them how they intended to remove the rear tint without harming the rear defroster. They informed me that they would use a razor blade. I seemed unsure of that method because, I really would hate to have to buy a new back glass. How would you go about removing the tint and the glue without harming the rear window defroster? I would rather get pissed off at myself instead of someone else so I planned on doing it myself. Love the the channel, Ralph. Keep up the great videos!

You cannot use a razor blade to scrap glue off back glass that has defroster lines without destroying them. You'll need to use the solution and paper towel, scrubby's, steel wool, etc. to work the remaining glue off. It will likely be a nightmare if it is coming off in pieces. At least it teaches a lesson not to use poor quality, store bought film

Anything with ammonia spray the entire area then place trash bag over it for 20mins or so it’ll peel off fairly easy never scrub on rear window

At my shop, sometimes the steamer doesn’t work at all, or $30.00 dollar products. Sometimes we have to go old school using a razor, or sponge, or RIP the defrosters and we do inform our clients. Its mostly old vehicles, 2000s and low. We are a auto glass shop as well,

This looks like way more work and less effective than using Windex with ammonia and putting trash bags on inside glass. Very little if any glue left behind that way. I guess if you charge by the hour this would be great.

Your method is way to much time consuming I stick to the old faithful removal of tint just my razor blade soapy water and it ends just as your in half the time!
