Have used a seal kit in the past called "basin mate". Only a couple of quid. Works brilliantly every time. Thanks for the video Al.

Great video. Instead of using the grips to stop the waste turning when tightening the back nut, you can use a long screwdriver inserted through the top of the waste to hold against the turning. This is especially useful when changing the waste when the basin is all plumbed in and ensures the the waste overflow aperture stays aligned with the waste outlet in the basin. Keep posting your great how to videos.

Never done one yet with just the washers that hasn’t leaked!....... plumbers mait & a poly washer all day for me 👍🏻

As a DIYer I have used plumbers mait as it makes it easy to change the waste in future times without the grief of having to remove silicone.

great instruction as usual...I'm about to replace one in a downstair toilet where the tilers used to clean the grout of tools. hope it comes out easily.. PS do these wastes come in a standard length.. i see diameter dimensions on screwfix and toolstation websites but not length. house is 20yrs old No they are not 😒😒.. just took the whole thing out and tried to fit it... the waste pipe plastic nut got up to the plastic waste nut but it butts it eventually.. my sink waste is 88mm long and the one i bought is 79mm. back to the drawing board.. it it not usable till i fix it now. Hmmm

I always enjoy your videos. I was wondering though, doesn't the 2 spaces in the waste have to line up with the overflow holes in the sink?

my kitchen sink waste seems to be leaking i bought few wraps of plumbers tape around it and seems to hve solved the problem not sure why it was leaking should it have had some thing in it any way?

I noticed the fitting has a hole in the side (for the overflow?). Does this have to be lined up with anything; perhaps it depends on the basin? Thanks, great video, much appreciated. :-) edit: What water is the washer at the base of the unit sealing against? Is it only the water from the overflow?

lol - if you use the washers that came with the waste, you'd better put a basin underneath to catch the leaking water.

Great video thank you but when I look at mine there is no nut holding it in place underneath. I assume it has to be undone from the plug side? Do I need a tool for that? It’s a slotted waste

Always throw away those washer and use a basin mate seal kit

Would you be able to do a replacement of a bath overflow? Apparently ours is a cheap nasty one which helped cause the minor leak that went down to the kitchen.

Can I ask a daft question? What are the two holes on either side above the thread for? Is that type only for certain sinks ? Thanks

Hi Al, I need to remove an old corroded brass basin waste but seen no info yet. its been on around 40 years so expecting problems. Any advice please ?

Just fitted a new click clack waste. Without the stopper it opens and closes ok. When stopper fitted ot sticks down below surface when pressed and stays there. Any ideas whats wrong. 4:31
