My led ring stopped working. Took apart to test it and found I needed a new assembly. That little metal slider for the speed selection fell out and I didn’t see where it came from. Thumbs up to you for showing us 👍

Anyone watching these great videos on Dewalt tool repair will come across the same problem if attempting this repair . The anvil replacement WILL improve the wobble but there’s two issues with nose assembly which also cause wobble where the anvil shaft comes through the nose assy it runs through a needle roller bearing and a special yellow dust seal o ring. That bearing can wear as well as the anvil shaft. I’ve searched high and low and can’t find a source for these two Compts. So you would need to buy the complete nose assy. Combined price for all these parts sadly puts this repair over the cost of a new old model driver (if you can find one now) this makes it a throw away item. But if you don’t mind spending £50 - £60 on the parts then go for it. There is a nylon washer inside the nose assy that looks like a steel one, cost £6, well worth buying as it allows play in the shaft assy also which causes wobble as well.

Replacing the anvil will not fix the wobble. You need to replace the nose sub assembly. Part# N439271..

Thanks for the tutorial. Where can I buy these parts including the bearing you noted in your comments below?
@doctorlefthandthread
@doctorlefthandthread Год назад
The part number for the anvil is N439275 it can be bought on ebay. The bearing is part of the hammer assembly and to my knowledge does not come as a separate part. The full hammer assembly is expensive and may make the fix too expensive. The new anvil does make a difference on its own though.

A serious case of the weeble wobbles lol Nice to see folks trying to fix things rather than throwing it into the rubbish :)

I've never seen this video!! Great video very interesting!! The DeWalt impacts have some of the worst tolerance from factory I've fixed a couple and that ring is a bitch 😂 I believe that's the hardest part of the job. Putting it on I found a lot easier I usually clean all the grime and re grease the anvil and give the springs a good cleaning before adding a good high temp grease and check the seal! You don't want it getting warm and pour out because these impact and know to hammer until they burn ❤️‍🔥 I've seen dozens let the magic 🪄 smoke out running higher ah batteries and making holes with spade bits they can't hang I can burn one in less than 5 minutes seriously 😳😂

Thank you Branden it's an older video it gets steady views I am not surprised smoke those little impact drivers I have begun to realise they are not the best.

The Wobbling is from the worn out roller bearings inside the NOSE CONE ASM.
@doctorlefthandthread
@doctorlefthandthread Год назад
There is one roller bearing in that it's part of the anvil impact mechanism www.mtmc.co.uk/Dewalt-DCF887-Type-10-Impact-Driver-Spare-Parts__p-132341.aspx

This has happened to mine. Looks like too much of a ball ache to have a go myself. To be fair, I'm really disappointed in my newer dewalt kit, there's always something going, or glitching. My old kit lasted for years, seemed bombproof, but the ni cad and ni mhd batteries were crap. I've invested to much in it to change but I wouldn't recommend dewalt now.
@doctorlefthandthread

I know what you mean I consider myself a Dewalt fan but I have to admit some of the impact drivers are not standing up to the abuse that maybe the older ones did

It's the bearing you have to replace

The anvil took most of the wobble out I suppose the bearing would have finished the job

I was actually thinking the bearing where the anvil goes in if it doesn't have a bearing there then you would have to have access to a lathe and make a bushing but then you would have to drill out a bigger hole to put in a bushing
