I wanted to say thanks for this tutorial! Before she was born, I made my three year old daughter a granny square crochet blanket. It is her favorite thing - she calls it "Bee." It is well loved, goes everywhere, has been picked at, dragged, snagged and had several holes. My daughter was getting upset that about the holes. I found your tutorial yesterday, we went and bought yarn today, and tonight I fixed all of the holes! She's going to be so happy when she wakes up! Thank you so much for such a thorough and easy to follow tutorial!
Hi Jen, I am so glad that you were able to repair your daughters blanket. This is exactly the reason I made this tutorial and so happy to see it is giving people the confidence to mend their treasures x
sorry to be offtopic but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost my login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Connor Zavier thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Dear Lady, you are an absolute life saver. Except for the clear instructions, your calm demenour and tone of voice set my nerves at ease. My companion, bullterrier, ate a hole through a blanket that was on the brink of finished for an order that needs to go out in 2 days time. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw what she has done, this being a first in almost 9 years of companionship. But let me start to fix the destruction. Thank you VERY VERY much!! I am forever grateful. Regards C.
After watching your video I feel much more confident attempting a repair. I bought this beautiful blanket from a charity shop in UK. I got it reasonably priced as it’s got big areas that have come apart. First thing I did when I bought it was caught up all the loose stitched with safety pins. That did the trick to stop it unravelling any further. I also took back the yarn as far as I could do I knew I’d have a tail long enough to attach the next piece too. ( it seems I was on the right lines) then I lost my confidence. Now I’m ready to give it a go. Thank you ever so much ❤
Thank you for sharing this tutorial. It helped me to repair a granny square crochet blanket my grandmother made for me. I am now ready to hand off to my grand-daughter. So much love to share with the next generation.
Thank you SO much for this tutorial!!! There aren’t many “good” Crochet repair videos out there... And I was starting to have a panic attack because I’ve started putting the border on a fancy granny square blanket that I’ve been working on and designing for over 2yrs... I was super duper excited being in the home stretch and as I was making a round on the border noticed that one of my squares was unraveling from a mid pint... My heart stopped!!!! I’ve been crocheting for a Long time and this is the first time I’ve ever had this happen... I was in a complete panic... Although my pattern isn’t a traditional granny square the way you taught this I can see what I need to do to fix it... And I’m glad to know that you may have to remove more stitches in order to properly fix the problem... Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! You’re a life saver!!!!!
Thank you so much for your video. This saved me when the Christmas Afghan came apart in the middle of one of the squares after washing. I was able to fix it and send it on to its recipient. ❤️❤️
I spent months crocheting a baby blanket before my 2nd daughter was born. Fast forward to three kids later my third child decided to cut it and make a Barbie doll dress . It was over,, nothing to do except cry a little and now it's just one of those funny stories we look back on. Kids?!?!? gotta LOVE them. 😂🤣😂💞
This is exactly what I’m looking for!! Thank you! I’m trying to fix a granny Square blanket for my sister in-law . It was made by her grandmother ( my husbands grandmother as well) so it’s super special and I really want to fix it. The center of one square has completely torn out and is hanging by a literal thread! I’m pretty new to crocheting but I think after watching your video , I can do it! Wish me luck!! Thank you again! ❤️
Dena Battistone Hope you managed to sort your blanket. It seems really scary, but as long as you take your time and secure the loops you should be ok. I also have a tutorial on a centre repair you may find useful. Good luck x
Brilliant! Thank you so much. 😘 The moths have nibbled my Cosy Blanket (Attic24 blog) and I've been afraid to touch it because any repairs I did would show up. Now I'm sitting and unpicking enough to repair. Oh lord, what a big hole now but I'm all confidence now I know what to do. There are moths everywhere in London but these are Monsters chewing their way through my acrylic blanket, SSDK! I'll be sharing this a lot with similarly moth affected people. Not the ones I've cursed with moths though, it would rather defeat the purpose of the curse!! (I've only used it on one person so far...)
Amazing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I was able to fix a V-stitch blanket using this method. The owner is very excited to get it back. I'm just do thankful for your help!
Thanks so much for the detailed explanation. I just sat down to repair a beautiful shawl (not granny square) and it was not easy connecting the rows. So stopped to check out RU-vid for guidance n came across your video. Hope to finish repairing it today.
This is brilliant! I'm definitely saving this video. I could've used this a while ago when one of my blankets had a mishap. I just used a needle and thread but it doesn't look even remotely as good as what you have done! Fantastic!
Thanks! I had a hole in my crocheted blanket and i told my sister to look at it ( not knowing there was a hole) Then she said "what is this hole right here?" and i said nothing hopefully i can fix it" thanks to you, my blanket is fixed!
Hi and thanks for your comment. This method doesn't bring the yarn through but one of our other repair tutorials does. You can only use the yarn through method if you are working with a small amount of yarn. Hopefully, we have covered both ways so that people can choose the one that works best for them x
I am very close to finishing my crochet blanket (currently about full size. i’m making it about a queen or king). In the beginning, I was just learning how to crochet, and was practicing on a granny square, but i decided to continue onto that piece which is now in the center of said blanket. It’s very nice, but my issue is that I used older recycled yarn in the center and the yarn i’ve used to continue the blanket is much softer and the new colors are fresher looking if that makes sense. I’ve found a few websites that explain how to repair a granny square. Its a little different than what you explained in this video though. (They basically thread yarn into the loops that youre going to crochet into later (where you put the saftey pins..and then I think they continued the way you did.) The center of my blanket that I’d like to replace is about 15 rows on each side of the square. i was hoping I could redo the center then swap it out. Am I still able to fix it the same way you showed in this video? Do you think attempting to replace such a big area is too risky ?? And if it’s doable, do you think this method is strong enough to hold the blanket together long term? I could use all the help/advice I can get! I’m a perfectionist and It's wayyy too late to start over. Please help!
Hi and thanks for your question. I see no reason why it can't be done and am just trying it now to see if it works. I'll let you know as soon as I've checked. Be back soon x
Thank you so much for subscribing and welcome aboard. I have uploaded a new tutorial on removing and inserting the centre square on a Granny Blanket - I hope you find it useful and good luck x
