Good stuff Al as always I have changed two elements tonight on a normal and economy 7 cylinder I have the flat spanner I had to cut a little of the foam insulation away to get the spanner to fit 162 litres of water had to be drained I have fitted Incoloy elements the cheap copper elements both failed within two years.Keep up the great teaching videos Al.

Had a pin hole in my tank so had it replaced but the heating oil boiler won't start up now. It seemed to work for an hour or so but no more. Pressure looks fine at about 1 and typical the plumber isn't available for a week. Any ideas or videos ??? To get me out of a hole 🙏

Took out with angle grinder ripped a little of the tank can I solder a flange on top of the ripped thread?

ive had to get the blow lamp on them in the past if the lump hammer and cast spanner doesn't work , never failed to get one out yet .. mind you ive seen a sparky fit one with car gasket sealer ,, aghh no .

I used the 'shock method' hitting it with a hammer, then tried a blowtorch, then tried some freeze spray - nothing worked, the blumin thing is stuck solid in the tank....and now weeping small amounts of water from the seal. It has been in place in a hard water area for 12 years. I put the old one in. didn't use any sealing compounds, PTFE etc, just the standard seal. Anyone have any other ideas for getting it out ? I'm tempted to drill out the center of the heater element , then use a chisel to hammer the remaining bit out ?

Always a lot better with a full tank as the water gives the tank rigidity.. BUT.. once it is loose than reduce water level.

you can use a bit of ptfe and a smear of clear silicone as well as the washer ,, that way they will undo ...

same spanner and big hammer i have used for years ---the only way to do it

When the boss white gets hot over time it goes rock hard which wont help if ever replacing. Thats advice from a pro on YT.

Do not hit the spanner with a hammer you will pinhole the immersion boss use a box spanner with a long bar to remove immersion
