I would paint it makes it look so much newer my husband is a roofer runs his own business and a lot of people paint them to give it a fresh look and it helps seal them so you get more life out them I’m sure you know that you’ve done a wonderful job on this house and thank y’all for the post on the lights I have been looking for bathroom lights and couldn’t find nothing we were happy with we finally found what I was looking for thanks to y’all

Best way to cut metal roof components is Midwest snips or makita nibblers. When you cut with grinders and saws, you heat up the chemicals of the coatings and refuse the lifespan of the metal
Why didn't you use butyl sealant under the bottom edge of the patches? Its a simple, easy, cheap way to keep water from wicking back up between the panels.
Nice video but do not cut the sheets with a grinder or saw. Use snips and it will not rust. Sometimes you may have to cut with a saw, I cut an inch over then cut with snips. if snips are impossible spray paint cut edge with a matching color of Rustoleum or rust resistant treatment. This is what my instructions were on my roof. I guess the metal does last as long as they claim, interesting. The roofing comes in different grades, not all are as long lasting, for a house use the 40 year roofing. Some are lower rated.
Can a tun roof be tepaired in the winter? Im in Oregon and just had an ice storm . Two big Oak limbs punched thru 3 panels second story. Can it even be fixed now?? Ground too soggy to drive any truck on, but barn is close to driveway. :( boo.
I have one and love it. It does need to be oiled and checked on a monthly basis. Another name is evaporative cooler. They work in dry climates, humidity is a no go.

always remove the old roofing. $10 says they put the metal down that roof was already bad. you can not know what you are putting the new roof on, it is a shortcut to leave it.
You still use metal roof in America? Wow! That’s old. We only use tile in the uk. I never understand the way some American houses are built. No brick just wood frame and plywood walls? Surely building it better would reduce the cost of aircon? I wonder why building regulations are so different in different countries.
That is a really good observation. In certain places in America we use tile roofs, particularly in hot areas. We also build with wood so that is can handle an earthquake better. my personal house is a brick structure house and will crumble in a big earthquake. most houses now have brick as a veneer, decoration only.

It depends on the region. Most homes reflect the climate of their region. An example would be more brick homes in the northeast and northwest that have colder climates. I live in the mid Atlantic where we have a mixture of both. You can have more efficient homes that are wood frame with the right insulation as opposed to brick.
Why isn’t the roof being replaced? This home had very bad termites and rodent damage. The wood under the metal planks are weak. You had to tear down all the framing because of termite damage, the roof probably needs to be gutted as well.
The roof joists were in great shape which is why we could remove walls and replace them with a different layout upstairs. Some metal roofs are acctually built for a lifetime, and just need a little care every few years.
