In this video I'll show you how to repair a missing zipper tooth in your Jeep's soft top.
As long as they are plastic teeth, this process can be used on many different items such as tents, jackets, sleeping bags, back packs, duffel bags, luggage, and anything with a plastic zipper!
I hope this video saves you money by helping you repair your zipper yourself!
Thanks for watching!
Hope you have a great day!

Thanks for the vid, it gave me an idea. I bought a strip of #8 zipper on amazon for a couple bucks, clipped a tooth out of the full zipper strip and left a strip of fabric still attached to the back. I heated it up with a heat gun until the fabric started to melt slightly, then pulled it out clean with a pair of pliers. Worked great! No fussing with vices or filing. Lets just say I've got a few of these to do...

Glad to help out! It was my first time trying it, I would definitely try it your way if I had to do it again, I can’t count how many times I dropped that tooth lol

What get's me is no one fix's zippers on Jeeps! I have yet to find an Upholstery shop that knows squat about Jeep Tops. I live in Colorado, home of Bestop! They are no help finding anyone who repairs tops. Seem like a huge market for someone.

It’d be a huge help just to find spare plastic teeth!

I have this exact problem except it’s bent. I could probably reuse a teeth from the other edge of the rear window. Is putting the teeth onto the fabric easy?

Kristian Mendoza yes getting the tooth on is fairly simple, you might have to file or sand the inside of the notch a little bit to help it slide onto the ridge. As far as removing the old bent tooth I’d try to carefully pry it apart off that ridge. Just be really careful not to destroy the ridge. Good luck with it, I hope it works out!

I just talked to an upholstery guy today who's been doing upholstery for 50 years and he says by the time you find a zipper get it installed properly in the top you could have gotten real close to the price of a new top because it's extremely labor intensive. That's why nobody puts in zippers.
