i just wanna say thank you! i just made this for my TJ (i went a step further and painted the pvc parts flat black) it works like a charm! it doesn't look bad, either :)
You are welcome! :-) With it painted black, I'm sure it looks like it belongs there. Good idea! Thanks for checking out my video and taking the time to leave an awesome comment! Have a great day :-)
Its fun hanging out in the FB pages chatting and helping others. Hope the soft top support helps. Thanks for dropping in and leaving an awesome comment!
What a great fix....You saved my ass after my wife got drenched yesterday. Must have been 2 gallon of water up there. Now get to keep my Jeep..hehehee So easy to install too....thanks so much for all ur videos
Glad you like it. As you see its an easy and very inexpensive mod/fix. It quietened the wind flapping of the top traveling at highway speeds as well. Hope it works out well for ya. Thanks for dropping in and leaving a great comment. Have a great day!
Great job! Definitely going to do this and send credit your way. A little grey spray paint and let the insulation go almost end to end and whammo… perfection like it was factory installed! Thanks bud
Great idea!..I turned my 93 suburban into a shortbed truck and have plans on cutting out the roof metal so I get that jeep like open feel that I miss after selling my jeep years ago...I just looked at the price of fiberglass bows and they are 20 bucks or more a piece..I thought maybe 3/4 pvc might work..thanks for the idea
You are welcome! Glad you liked it and it worked for you! Good idea painting it black! Thanks for taking the time to leave a great comment! Have a great day!
great idea thanks to you Lowes just got a little more of my hard earned money lol. I'll be doing this mod today. Happy 4th man and thanks for the great videos.
Hope you had a Happy 4th as well! Glad you liked the idea. It's really a better benefit to people who get heavy snow fall. It also works great for Jeeps with a loose fitting top that tends to pool water in that area. I have a great fitting top and heavy snow isn't "too" much of an issue around here. So, my bonus was that it quietened it down a bit from preventing all the "flapping" noise that occurs when running at highway speeds. Thanks for taking the time to leave a great comment! Have a great day!
Great idea. I have a Pavement Ends top thats kinda of loose in that area, was thinking of doing something like that. I Was going to use plastic flat strips, like the pvc idea better.
looks good...I bet you could put a Paton on that design...I personally don't have a jeep but that's about the same thing that I had in my old blazer that had a roll bar in it...the only difference is I paid about $200 for a piece of plastic to keep the heat in the front...It didn't even fit very well...
About a month ago I was running the bikini top. Got a bunch of rain and didnt have that support in place. I had GALLONS of water just sitting in the bikini. Oops!!!
I am having a major problem figuring out how to assemble the frame of Rampage Products complete soft top kit. I have a college degree and it is almost Greek to me. Please help a fellow Tennessean out, if you are able. Thanks! Lisa P Fayetteville, TN
Rampage makes a few complete tops. The top I have on my Jeep now is a Rampage "Cab Top". I've done a video on it. I don't have access to any other rigs with a Rampage tops or I'd make a video demo'ing it. Wish I could help with a video. I've been close to Fayetteville a few times, haven't actually been there.
@@Poweraddicts Thank you for the reply. I just bit the bullet and plunked down the bucks to revamp the original frame and ordered another top. I'll try to sell the other. Come visit sometime. I would be pleased to show you and your family around. My son works at Jack Daniels; I'll ensure you can take a tour. Also, I am going to use your tip on the cross piece made from PVC. Thank you again!
Glad you like the idea. Got those at Lowes. I've made a few of them since this video. Lowes always had them in stock. Hope you find them! Thanks for dropping in! Have a great day!
Did you originally have a hard top? My dad removed his hard top and installed a cheap soft top. He hated it and put the hard top back on. You can make this soft top support, it helps but doesn't stop it. It also depends on what brand soft top you have. I know of one TJ that has a cheap thin soft top, it flaps like crazy. Another friend of mine has a TJ with the heavyweight material Bestop Supertop, it not bad at all. Hop this helps. Have a great day!
+Gary King Engine mounts, not really. Sometimes aligning the bolts back up can be a pain. Sometimes they practically fall in. Well... other times .. it hammer time!! As for body mounts, you could run into rusted bolts, twisting bolts in two. Or, get lucky and they come out easy. I would suggest spraying body mount bolts with PB Blaster every couple of days for at least a couple of weeks. It may not be needed. But, it could save you some real headaches.
+Justin.jennifer Crittenden They make conversion LED kits. I just haven't ventured into them yet due to cost and waiting for technology to grow a little more.. Some of the kits I've looked at has a cooling fan on back of the LED fixture. Not a fan of that idea because I do go off roading when I get the chance. That fan pulling in dirt, water & mud would allow the LED to over heat, therefore burning out (wasted money). There is a company called JB Speaker that has the whole replacement fixture. they are very expensive for my taste. Also, just my personal opinion, the JBs are terribly ugly!! I still do occasionally look around on the market to see if I can find something to test that wouldn't break the bank if they turned out to be junk. Just keep hanging around, I'm sure somewhere down the line I'll end up with a set. Have a great day!!
Hey .. Just a heads up. I'll be soon releasing a video where I install and review a LED headlight conversion. Not the cheap euro conversion junk. Good quality conversion that provides great performance and doesn't blind traffic coming at you. These do have cooling fans in them .. but .. they are waterproof so water should not be an issue.
