Great stuff - I love repairing this gear as well. Something very rewarding about keeping nice old kit going. Discrete channel boards in this one too - very flash!
I had one of these in the 80s :) Wouldn't have a breeze how to fix if anything went wrong. Nice to see the inner workings. Kinda understand why it was so relatively expensive now.
My dad recorded hundreds of his own songs on one of these things back in the 80s! I still have it and my RU-vid channel is dedicated to sharing his well written music. I just started and will continue to upload more tunes 🤟🤟 come Join the journey
hi! thanks for your channel! i just replace new belts, new pinch and new idler tires. now i put play and it stops in 5 seconds... on fast forwr and rew the same only 5 seconds. BUT if i keep pushing the play button keep playing but you still hearing the 5 seconds intention to stop.. and the same with rew and fast forw. the counter works on play mode but in rew and fast forw dont show any movement on the counter... can you help me please... sounds goor and very powerfull rewind and fast forrward. it is only that 5 seconds issue. please help thanks for everything!
Hi It sounds like a rotation sensor fault, the rotation sensor is on the top of the deck to the left of the supply spindle. A magnet turns above a 3 leg sensor. Make sure it is turning correctly and also in the right direction (no belts fitted the wrong way) I would concentrate on sorting that ffwd/rew problem with the counter first. You will probably find the other problems are all linked.
I can't stand the tar belt syndrome. That stuff is like ink that's goo. It's hideous and stains everything it touches. I get it all outta there with ear buds, (q tips) and 90% alcohol as gingerly as possible. Nice deck though. I did my 234, which has the same mechanism. Lovely machines. 😊
Thanks for this useful stuff but you did just ever so slightly gloss over what needed to be done to extract the cassette mechanism and remove the fast forward/rewind motor! 🤔
