How To Repair Cat Scratches on a Leather sofa

Removing Cat or Pet Scratches Is Easy.
Cats can create two different types of cat scratches on leather.
The first is where the cat scratches the leather by plucking out the fibres from the leather substrate creating little pull-ups of loose leather, these will stand proud of the leather surface and feel rather rough.
The second is where the cat will scratch the leather causing a more straight-line scratch, without puncturing the surface at all.
Repairing damaged leather where cats have scratched the surface or created small pucks is possible if you are looking for a permanent repair NEVER use our colouring enhancer balm to carry out this job.
They are a few items that you will require to successfully repair cat scratches in your leather:
• Cat Scratch Repair Kit (depending on the area you may need a bigger kit)
• Leather Glue Repair Kit
• Heavy Filler (this can be a coloured filler or just white)
• Spatula
• Protection Cream

Thanks. The most difficult thing is to match the color. It could be darker or lighter, and if you will fix scratches dropped everywhere on the item it will spotted.

Train your cats to use a scratching post and trim their claws. They're only scratching your furniture, because their claws are too long. Be sure you're clear on the length they should be, and that you don't _over-trim_ them, or you could cut into the flesh that sheaths the upper part of their claw, which will be excruciatingly painful for them. 😖

The glue is used to glue down any fibres that are sticking up and the filler is for repairing any marks where the top coat has been removed by the pets claws

@@LeatherRepairUK @LeatherRepairUK thank you...the kit just arrived today! Can you give me an advice?....Is it possible to use just the alcohol and the glue to "repair" the cat scratches ? From what I can see from your video the result right after the "glue and push" could be enough for what I need. I'm scared to ruin the sofa with the sanding and the colour. Maybe in some places I can avoid to do the last 2 steps. Which are the negative results of avoiding them ? Is the glue alone going to be more visible on the leather if not sanded ? Thanks in advance and keep it going , your videos and really useful and well done 👍

Yes this can be used in faux leather but as it’s fake just don’t prep as hard as you would with leather, just go gentle with the prep process

They really aren’t that bad! I love cats I will always have a cat in my home. You just have to train them to not scratch your furniture. Get them a scratching post and trim their nails.

I was thinking about getting a cute kitten... I think I just remembered why I promised myself never to get another cat after the last two died. I love them, but they can destroy your furniture! Not to mention the AWEFUL litter box odor, no matter how much I cleaned them!

@@brendamiller6334 YUP, I got two new leather couches after my two died, I can finally have nice furniture and uncover some other newer furniture I have. Not to mention the litter box stench is finally gone from my house, nothing worse than that! They make excellent pets, as long as you are willing to sacrifice your furniture and your clean smelling house!
