Thanks for the video, I had the same issue, the rear panel door handle switch tended to be stuck in the open position, especially in colder weather. This happened to me last year already, I took out the switch then and spayed it with lubricant (WD-40). It fixed it for about a year and now it was stuck again ever so often. Your instructions really helped to understand the root cause and fix it more permanently. Since I already took off the read door cladding panels (3-4 times, e.g. fixing radio reception issues) it took me about 15 minutes to unmount the handle and about 15 minutes to take it apart, clean and grease + 10. minutes to reassemble everything. Works like a charm now!
@@ETMotorsportsI got CEL, EGR is not functioning due to lambda value is zero. So I replaced the oxygen sensor. On om642, oxygen sensor is only for emission purposes. With the new sensor, lambda is still zero. Do you think the lambda need a reset/ initiation by a computer, or I just need to drive 100+ km?
Thanks for the video. Always appreciate someone sharing their fixes. You mentioned you had similar issue on a GL450. I have the GL450 x164 and most of the time it says the rear liftgate is open, its power. I noticed it is no longer working through the handle, but it is not stuck. i hear the microswitch but liftgate does not go up. It does work fine through the key fob, door and closes with red button. but it always says its open. I do hear the actuator lock, i do notice some slight play. do you think i should just change the actuator? or the switch on the handle? thanks. dome light also stays on
Your description is not very clear. The handle just sends a message to the lock to unlock, that's all. The lock does the latching/unlaching through its integrated circuit board and gears. The lifting and lowering is done through the module and pump under the spare tire. So you have to first pin point the problem. My Guess is that there's something wrong with the mechanical chamber of the lock. You have to remove the plastic cover of the lock to find out what's going on. There are 2 motors and lots of plastic gears in there. So lots things could break in there. Just search for lock removal/repair for your model or ML and see what you have to do. Good luck. Example: Mercedes GL ML R Class Trunk Lock Repair
another nigga fix here, took me 10 hours, easy fix for him as the third time and probably still took an hour but saying only 15 min. Getting the nuts out took 2 hours to figure out, ended up popping off the whole back cover, then broke the metal tab from the tailgate trying to get it out, 2 hours later got it back with a plastic gift card cut out then shoe glued on one side, but need to do after spring is back. also spring took another 2 hours to get back in, finally figured out a very easy way, put the spring in the grove first, then use a pliers to twist it back in place and hooking at the other part, that's probably the way they did when made it, very easy. I got the piece ready to install and will put back tomorrow, but definitely not an easy job for a first timer with this video unless it was made by chris fix, but too bad made my nigga fix, trying to skip parts and go fast to look smart, but thanks anyways for the video, maybe need to do a redo such as getting the nuts out and another way to put the spring back with pliers
hey - sorry you had difficulties with the job...I imagine if you had to do it again it would be a lot easier...the first time I did it on my GL and took about an hour, on my ML I was down to about 30 min and on the R-class it was a breeze...
@@ETMotorsports at first only saw this video and thought you didn't fix cars as a hobby too but for the average person think this job is 4 hours at least for a first timer. Couldn't figure out which way nuts go to loosen, even though I know 'lefty loosey and righty tighty' because they were so stuck then got confused maybe they were reversed because trying from the back. Spring was also a huge problem at first, until tried the other way then got on second try. Had to try like 5 different pliers to get that nut out that's why gonna say if do again have more steps for beginners and say exactly what tools but thanks anyways as guess not much info on this job out there!
