I've seen a few of this gentlemen's videos for fixing things like this and another video for the Guibo fix. These are top notch and kudos to him for being so precise and clear.
What a thorough repair video- thanks so much for going to all the trouble and commentary. I was able to follow the steps and replace the busted actuator gear sprocket on my '03 745Li and the brake performs flawlessly. Got the replacement all-metal actuator off Amazon, next day delivery- unbelievable! I did re-use the red tab on the new actuator. One side effect took a little time to settle out- the car would shift into Park fine but the dash indicator would show N for Neutral. On the forums it seems this is cleared by adjusting the parking brake. But in my case it seems to have resolved the issue itself as it's reverted to displaying P when I shift into Park.
Btw : for those that have their brakes stuck engaged you can release the parking brake by taking the cover off , there is a small Allen key way to manually release the parking brake I believe it’s an 8mm. Turn counter clockwise, Once you start turning you will see the cars parking brake start to release
The Locking clip and triangle clip won’t remove notice brake still engages even when release parking brake in truck and under Dashboard what’s the problem?
After watching your video I ordered a replacement gear for my 2003 bmw 745li 7 series and come to find out the threading wasn't a match. So clicked on the link you put on someone's comment to order the exact replacement gear i need. Just in case can you please send me the link just to make sure it's the right one.
@@ecologicaltime So I replaced the gear just like you demonstrated and when I push the parking brake nothing's happening. What could I have possibly done wrong?
I have the parking break light on. I ordered the part and was going to replace it. But after inspection of the part on in the the vehicle nothing looks broken..
Hi mate, i have the same problem with my BMW 730d 2004 someone before me change all of the parking brake but now the cat doesn't recognise the new one.
BMW EMF Parking brake is wise design, it can't save you in an Emergency if the foot-well brake failed to stop vehicle. Buying a vehicle with a Real hand held Emergency brake is better saving my ass than a fancy worthless EMF that dis-activate from applying while driving.
good point. If the car is moving you cannot activate the park brake even if its emergency. I suppose you could use down gear shift if needed, like in the old days. However, i think its a cool feature to have electronic as its easy to use.
Bro i have same problem on 2007 750 ... And i put new one but dont work idk .. If i do wrong but problem is workin if i drive litle and i push the break botton and is work
Tech junkie here. By the way the car handbrake has given me 5 years of perfect service and the previous owner even more.like all moving parts, it needs to be serviced or replaced after a while. I use the car every day.
Thanks for the video. I still don't understand why car manufacturers complicate things by adding an electric motor, a gear system and a controller to a simple and reliable handbrake....
You guys are soooo lucky, My car happened to have a whole FKA rear AC unit with a fridge on top of the E-brake module, can't lift it what so ever to do this job.
It’s a myth a about German engineering poor design I’ve had bmw Audi and merc all had design flaws also has Toyota Nissan and modern jag they were much better on design and quality
