Got a repair kit/fix for the plastic cartridge arms that break on an original 1990 Gillette Sensor razor? I'm far too sentimental to part with it, having shaved everyday for 30 years
I'm not sure if you'll ever see this but I just want to ask I have a 1950s job let flare tip razor And it does not twist at all and open the top. It was from a family member who passed Away and I found it digging in the backyard. Now it's all in tact but it just does not want to open. Would you be able to help me?
If.you use the food grade anti seize I dont think it would matter. But if you work on cars enough you will get the normal anti seize. In your mouth, eyes, hair and everywhere else. So not sure it would bother me too much either way. Have a great day, thanks for the great videos.
Will you do a video on a budget, but good long term, honing setup,?All the way through a finishing stone and slurry. Kind of like what you did for stropping.Thank you in Advance!
Great job, I have one Gillette black beauty vintage razor, can you repair it and make it workable, I find it very very aggressive and the blade alignment is not proper, this is somewhere of nineteen seventies and was given to me by my father, I presently use Merkur 37c daily and don't find it aggressive, I'm ready to pay your charges, I'm Rajan Sharma from INDIA and I'm an Advocate by profession If you want I can send you photos of the same thanks. I'm emotionally attached to this razor as my father also shaved with it.
Glad to have found this, I have my grandfathers Gillette from the 1940’s and had one of the end caps fell off today. I used one of those ‘jet’ lighters (not certain if the proper term) and it worked like a charm. Glad I managed to look at the razor for some reason before draining the sink or I would have had to pull the sink trap. Thank you!
If this problem occurs and we can't afford to send it in to you guys to get it repaired, can we do this repair at home? If so, what torch would we use?
Josh Hibbs I think your best bet would be to use an electric soldering iron and touch it to the inside of the endcap area, that way it's less likely to burn the plating
RazorEmporium Cool. Thanks for the response. I have had one end cap fall off before but I did not know they were soldered on. I thought they were crimped some kind of way so I pushed it back on and crimped on something underneath with an electricians pliers and it seemed to do the job because it had not fallen off since. If it does, I know what to do now. This video was very helpful to me and the one about adjusting I think it was the end cap by slightly moving it to get it inline and make the doors open at the same time again. I did not know how to fully take my razor apart before I watched that video. I had no clue about the special screw. Very helpful information and one day I will send my Gillette in to get rhodium plated and the bottom turning knob painted whatever color it was originally painted. 👍🏼
That was awesome. I love seeing how things work. I noticed at the _4:01__ minute mark_ that you did some crimping for the disassemble. Did you have to re-expand that crimp after you put it all back together?
