Our hills rotary clothes hoist failed so in this video I do some running repairs.
Hello, I'm Lance (aka Bundy Bear), and doing these videos is my hobby. I do own Queensland Tractor Spares in Australia where I sell parts and offer technical advice to customers.
Parts seen in our videos can be purchased from www.queenslandt...
We have a lot more than we can offer on our website available to us and in our store. If you don't see what you would like please email info@queenslandtractorspares.com.au or call 1300 850 097 and we will help where we can.
I do try and help with technical advice at bundybearsshed@gmail.com if you have a question or are having trouble with your project.

Thanks. I have been looking for a video like this for seven years. Pulled my hoist apart and it is the same problem. Thanks again!

I just pulled mine to bits. The lift up part that you made a collar for didnt have a separate washer. the collar is effectively the conical washer too. The hook lodges inside the centre hole to prevent uplift which is why the collar is tack welded to the pipe. I dont have a lathe so Im expecting it will collapse one day in near future as rusting quite badly. my gear cogs are nylon too on the winder so not as good a build quality as yours but still ok as ive combined two clothes lines to make one workable one. I found your video was great. I have oiled rather than grease just a t present as I could find the grease. Also needed to dismantle the top to transport and was hoping for a close up of the rod connectors under the top pipe as photo I took prior wasnt clear enough but think I have worked it out now. Back out to try.

inox is a good spray doesnt dry out, atleast your hillshoist has metal gears and not plastic, good to see a sidchrome ratchet, still got my original set aussie made decades later still good even with lots of abuse.
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed Год назад
Yeah the early Sidchrome will see us out they were good gear back in the day.

Take 2 to see if the ether comment from the other vid stays here.... Take feckin 3,4,5,6, 10 keeps disappearing🤷‍♂️....Vileda will probably be plastic not rugged looking 😂 I got onto Vileda for line and tensioners, really only tensioners, i had bought hills line on Amazon. They said there's hills line on the site for sake but no tensioners.....Seriously WTF Anyway line on now just need a day to be bothered to fix the crank 😂 What about a plastic not rigid sleeve on the up n down?. I see you've not got the plastic line they sell now
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed Год назад
The newer models have the plastic gears here I see. I found a roll of the old wire and we now use stainless pegs. We had no crank for years and it didnt bother Judy so it didnt get fixed, lol.
@JACKATTACKED
@JACKATTACKED Год назад
Crank fixed today here, couldn't be more plastic and crap to boot 🤣

Was thinking with the sleeve something like a shocker boot or lay flat pipe....might do that myself yet.

Hey Bundy, great video I have the same p roblem as yours ie conical end sleeve has deteriorated. I had a look on the hills hoist parts online as suggested but they don't sell them. Are you able to make and sell me one? I live in country Vic and prepared to pay your labour and postage. Regards Michael

Great video.thank you for valuable content and expertise. We cannot make the top for above the winder to lift the pole like you did. The hills site does list it and they are out of stock of the hole repair kit which didn’t depict it anyway. Any other ideas? Thank you You

Im guessing this is what has failed on ours.... Can't seem to find any individual part to fix this though. so Im thinking of attempting to reddneck it by getting a bit of scrap galve sheet, and using an old toeball and sledge it into a pipe of similar sixing to see if it conforms to a usable shape. Then tac it grind it weld it grind it. Spray it. Grease it. 😅

All you can do is give it a go. I see the modern ones have gone to a plastic screw now so they wont last like these old ones will.

Most interesting! I had not seen one of those before now. We had similar things for air drying but none built as well as that one. Oh by the way, there must be a can of cold-galv. around somewhere. That's just ugly rust and a rust stain can be as hard on the wash as grease. Maybe more considering the easy fix.....😀

I did think of that but thought it would just wear off again
