in todays video i am going to be showing you how to replace the rear quarter window on this 2004 Ford Mustang Convertible. this works on all mustang convertible from 1994 to 2004 or the SN95 and SN97 mustangs

Ha, yeah. It gets to the most important part (the actual title of the video?) right up to the parts of the process I needed to see (window being mounted to the regulator, reassembly, etc), and boom, it skips over the whole main part of the R&R to the point where the job is somehow already done.

I have a 97 convertible mustang, you DO NOT need the quarter windows down to put the top down. ALL you need is the Parking brake engaged. Unless the 99-04 new edge requires the windows down for some reason.

Not *required* on my 2003, just recommended to avoid damaging the weatherstrip.

Just writing down tools required...10, 11, 18, 13mm sockets, t20 torx, flathead, panel prayer or wire snips.

Needed to get to the window wiring, thanks for this! Very helpful! 👌 Also, you dont need to let the windows down to let the top back, its recommended to do so to prevent any damage to the weather stripping, and you dont need to have the door closed. Only requirements are that the car is in park or neutral with the e-brake up. My passenger window AND quarter window doesn't work when it gets too hot outside, it's a common problem on these models. This isn't a perfect car, but super reliable. I love my 00 vert. Wouldn't trade her for anything.

My 2000 covertible works perfectly but there is a slight gap between 1/4 windows and seals, that will allow rain to enter. Is the off track 1/4 windows responsible? Im trying to find a way to fix the issue with a diy remedy.

my car doesn’t make me put the quarter windows down to put the top down? i have an 01 though. but thanks for this video, been searching forever to find it and saw you uploaded this 11 hours ago. a lifesaver!!! my passenger side quarter window needs replacing because of the weatherstrip. sooo not looking forward to this repair but so glad i found your video

Oh okay. Maybe its a newer model year thing to have to have it down then. Either way i couldnt find a good indepth video of doing it for myself so i made onem.glad it helped you out

Mike Utoober on the instructions on the sun visor it does say all the windows need to be down, but the top goes up and down with no issue with the windows up. weird, but my car’s kinda possessed tho so that’s probably why hahah. good thing it doesn’t need the windows down because my passenger window won’t go down. must be faulty wiring because i’ve tried everything else to fix it

Thanks for your video, Mike! This video was very helpful on how to get in to the quarter window. I'm finding the E6000 Self-leveling Formula - Medium Viscosity Glass-to-metal adhesive is the product to use for this project on these Mustangs rear quarter windows. Youve already heard it but, the most important part was the reattachmet to the window motor frame was missed in the video and what was used. thanks again.

Really appreciate this video. With all the SN95 Mustang videos and write-ups out there, there are very few that deal with this issue. Also surprised at the lack of parts (quarter windows and regulators). Getting parts for these cars is usually not a problem.

First, thanks for posting this, I was able to get mine apart. The t20 At least on mine, you can substitute a nut driver to get it out. I am now trying to rebond my glass to the metal. Any idea how to do that?

No problem, and i dont know what you can use but it looks like silicone holds it on to me so i would try that first

I used JB Weld and 2 clamps. Except I did it off the car.

Are you near NJ? Can you do this for me? Also my regulator is working so I just need the window with siliconed bracket attachment right?

I am not Near NJ, i would help if i was near though, and yeah that would probably work just make sure the bracket is lined up right

@@marclevy6287 Yes, basically. If you try to re-attach it, you might be back in there in a few months. If you know your adhesives and climate/humidity, maybe you could make something work, but better to search for a salvage yard / "Pick Your Part" and get a "new" used window for $15 or less, IMO.

Use an old fork to pop the panel clips out. $0.25 at Goodwill.

I heard a thunk when I closed my door. I tested the drivers side window. no problem. didnt test the rear window. what was it. what inthe door could make that thud as I closed my drivers door. I have to replace the hydralic lifts.should I replace my lines too? thx.

Mine broke from forcing it when the door handle lock broke trying to use the key . The other door has no key lock which is a crazy cut they did. And caused such a headache .

I need help with my passenger quarter window it’s stuck up and won’t go down, I think the power switch works it could just be the motor

Did you ever get it working? On mine, both sides tend to do that once in a long while. It's just crud and dirt that get stuck in the gear that moves. You can see the mechanism here in the video, it's the big gear behind the motor. A few light taps and some wd40 and it works perfectly. That's what I've done.

My left side sticks down sometimes. I've had the car a couple of yrs and took it back twice to the garage I bought it from and they fixed it. But, the garage was sold and mechanics aren't there anymore so I don't have anyone to work on it. The new owners said bring it in, but now I'm back to square one. I'm not sure why it sticks down.

No. There is 4 switches and 4 motors

The issue I’m having , is the customer wants both windows working properly, the problem is that the parts I need are discontinued, I was able to get a couple regulators that work, however the right side gets caught on the rubber bushing in the door jam, the left quarter glass gets caught on the regulator itself, anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue? I’ve tried adjusting both glasses and I’ve been able to do these in the past no problem.

@@benoden5838 It sounds like the parts (or the car) was slightly out of spec / off-kilter. Past collision or warped part from age? Good solution.

Unfortunately it was a somewhat urgent repair to get done. If it wasnt them helping it would have been me doing it by myself, that being said i dont disagree. I tried to follow as best i could because i saw no good step by step on youtube when i made it
