This video was such a lifesaver! Successfully changed mine on my 5th Gen yesterday. Took a few hours because the tubing on the old pump was basically stuck on there lol. As soon as I opened up the protective covering over the fuel pump housing, dust and cob web, dinosaurs, and everything was up under there 😂 That pump is the same original one from 99’ and I’m keeping it lol! I decided to also clean up everything while I had the chance. I also realized that I just needed to use the same original wires for the new pump. The new wires had me confused lol. The new pump also was slightly bigger so getting the strainer on was a **** lol and the new strainer was too small. She’s running better than ever now! Excellent and helpful video! 🤙🏾
Prelude Paul Mine wasn't bad. I was replacing the engine, so I just replaced it so I won't have a problem in a short time. At least they made it very easy to do.
I hate stupid people Only a very few Hondas that have a rear sub frame have an access cover for the fuel pump. They did that because on those cars its to hard to pull the gas tank out.
Any chance you could tell me what the unit to the left of the fuel pump is. My car has issues where when low on gas it will try to die off and cut off on gas so I always have to fill up constantly and i don’t know if it’s my fuel pump or also my fuel unit meter
was this a routine change out? or repair like due to bogging down from no fuel? mine recently bogged down like 6 times hasn't happened before with my 00' but happened frequent in my 90'
Nice work Ken, are my eyes playing tricks on me or is that hood open with a rope going to the trunk? When I saw it, that reminded me of a cow being hogtied in a rodeo. I like that idea instead of removing the entire hood, now I have a new trick up my sleeve, thanks!
Astral Auto Repairs The hood is tied opened. It will stay up like that on its own , thats just to keep the wind from blowing it closed on me. Im replacing the engine also. That video will be done soon.
My brother cut his own access point in a 93 Camaro and made a screw in patch panel. Nice how they have one built in on the Prelude. What a pain if you have to remove the tank.
Sam's Garage I did s 94 Camaro before that way. Those year Camaro's are to much work to pull the gas tank. Because the differential and exhaust are in the way.
Steven McIntyre It’s very hard to say without seeing the car. If the fuel pump was causing something like that you would probably get a lean code and the check engine light would probably be on.
@@1970chevelle396 my prelude has a hesitation issue sometimes when driving. I push the pedal but the car barely accelerates, i have to take my foot off and push it again to go, but even than its weak. Its not until i turn the car off and turn it back on that it drives normal again. This happens randomly. I already changed fuel filter, Would you say its a fuel pump issue? I was thinking that or maybe o2 sensors.
@munards I had this issue with a bad tps, get a new one and calibrate it. Driving on a bad tps for a prolonged period of time caused other issues for me down the line. Do it yourself and do not take it to a mechanic, you'll enjoy your car more
please get back to me. Are fuel pumps universal??? i have a 1988 honda acord and parts are discontinued. you think i can pull a pump off a car in the junk yard??
1970chevelle396 i went to every part store autozone, ohrileys, ext cant find nothing even went to the honda website, got the part than the next day they gave me a refund stating that the part is discontinued. my main question is will any car fuel pump work?? or does it need to be the specific one?
