Thanks MM, yes the apartments are nice, granite counters, stainless steel appliances etc.. only 5 years old. A step up from my old property in Pa that was 47 years old. Alot nicer working at a newer property than an older one. Thanks for watching 👍👍

This might be a stupid question and, how do you start removing the trim? I don’t want to do it incorrectly and break it.

Use a flexible putty knife, and start pulling it away from the inner door, it's just held in with clips. You may break a few clips but don't worry there's more than enough clips on the trim piece to hold it back on. Thanks for watching Michel 👍👍

Yeah I've been having 2 or 3 a month lately. The stainless steel handles are expensive too. I found a hack to save money on the stainless steel handles. Buy a black handle & take the ends off & mount the black ends on the original stainless steel handle. You can't even tell & it looks fine. Save the good end from the broken handle & the next time you have a work order for a broken microwave handle use the good end to repair it. Saves alot of money. Thanks for watching bro 🛠️👍

The most important part for me was how to get the trim off. You didn't show that. I'm afraid to break the other plastic surrounding the trim

Sorry about that, I use a 2" flexible putty knife & go around the door prying out on the plastic trim around the perimeter of the glass on the inside of the door (door opened of course). I usually start across the bottom or one of the sides. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching Brent & Subscribe to the channel 👍

Yes the stainless steel handles are expensive. You can buy a black handle for around $35-$40 & just take the ends off the back handle which are black, & put them on the stainless steel handle that broke & it looks fine, nobody would know the difference besides you. @@ApartmentMaintenance oh great idea! I was able to temporarily fix it by getting a longer screw (#8/1”) and fasten it to the unbroken part.

My microwave does had one before and I ended having no other options but to grab by the top of the door to open it up safely without breaking the whole microwave (by only causing it to fall down)or the door

I wouldn't say the handles break often. As for the stainless steel microwave handles which are expensive, you can buy a black handle and take the ends off it which are black and put them on the stainless steel handle and it looks fine. I've done a few like that and saves alot of money. Thanks for watching Colin 👍

@@ApartmentMaintenance in our case it's not the handle that's broken, it's the plastic end of the handle, where it screws into the door, so I don't think the black handles would help. Oh well, thanks anyway!

@@colinmcgee5931 That's the part that breaks. You can't just buy the ends. That's exactly what broke in my video you commented on. That's why I said to buy a black handle, take the ends off and put them on the stainless steel handle to save alot of money. The black ends are behind the handle which you can barely see and it looks perfectly fine. Unless you want to spend $150 or more on another plastic stainless steel handle then that's up to you, or you can buy the black handle for around $35-$40 and just take the ends off. @@colinmcgee5931 No problem, you can search the model number of your microwave on google or go to applianceparts.com or repairclinic.com and type your model # in and those sites will pull up your microwave with a parts diagram and select the door handle.

My over-the-range GE profile spacemaker XL sensor’s door handle broke off and as a temporary solution I used super glue to hold it in place. Since then it has completely broken off and I am unable to replace it due to the plastic screw insert being super glued into the door frame. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Use a drill bit alittle smaller than the size of the hole where the inserts go. Once you drill out the old plastic inserts you should be able to break away any pieces left with a pair of needle nose pliers. Or you can use a drill bit the same size as the opening and just drill out the old inserts and once u install the new handle it will go right in. Is this an Advantium? Ge told me I had to replace the entire door, but there is a replacement handle, WB15X21101.

LoL, definitely not cheap! But I have an account with GE & get them for alot less than that. But I don't purchase the stainless steel handles anymore even though I was getting them for around $100. I buy the black handles for $35-$40 & take the ends off & put them on the stainless steel handle & you can't even tell. Thanks for watching Budzindi808 & Subscribe to the channel 👍
