Hi I'm pretty competent contemplating ordering the part got heating but hit water just going cold all the time think it's been long time coming ..just power off some draining and easy enough ? Currently got front off and lower section lowered
These vids are great lately. Hands on guide step by step. Doing my apprenticeship atm. And beginning to do more breakdowns, these vids are really helping me. 👍👍
Thank you for the tutorial video. I've just replaced a faulty diverter valve for the grand sum of £23.90. parts and a length of 10mm rubber tubing to connect to the drain off valve. Plumber wanted £180 all in
I have a question....i just realised that after replacing that diverter valve ...when i use hot water my radiators start to heat up aswell even when the heating is turned off....any advice?thanks
The role of the diverter as you know is to divert the water from the heating to hot water when required, I would suggest checking the diverter again for blockages/debris making it stick. Double check it is working and the motor head is doing its job too. 👍🏻
Hi there can this valve issue also cause the radiators to remain cold but have hot water? As I appear to have no radiator flow, but power to the pump and it sounds to be running. Thanks
Thanks for the clear instructions on this video. I'm getting a lot of water leaking out from just where the motor head sits - would this be an indication to replace the diverter valve as you've shown, or some other problem? Potterton Promax boiler, about 10 years old.
I'm hoping to do ours in next day or 2 . But get a new mot8r head only around 10 quid . Likeky just seals gone bad and the motor will be affected corroded etc
Great video. Is this likeky my issue .......h9t water often goes luke warm or cold . Pressure of hearing system is mostly stable but can drop by 0.5 if it kicks . Rads all hot . Bled etc no air in rads . Occasionally 1 tap on its own won't activate the boiler but 2 taos will.....But often same issue with water going warm ir cold . Thank you I've got the both parts on order you mentioned inc a thermister just in case. Thank you
Hi. Watched this vid re changing valve motor unit. My duo-tec 5yrs old is tripping our circuit breaker and I found a water leak, just a bit wet, around where this motor unit is fitted onto the water valve. Do you think internally the motor unit might be getting water damage causing the trip? The plastic casing and where elec connector is fitted all looks dry though so was looking for advice. Replacing the motor and valve looks really easy for me and would be a great fix if you think is cause. Appreciate any feedback
Great video So easy when you know x Is it easy to change the heat exchanger in this type of boiler ? I have the 24 HE model and I’m going to attempt it. The manual says you have to firstly remove the gas valve !!!!! Also….. what gauge (bore size) is the orange tube ? 1/4” ?
very nice video .mine is jammed. cartridge is been stucked only top part of the cartridge comimg off rest has been stuck. do you any reason why is it happening. thanks
Hello Dan , thank you for the video . Wanted to ask if i am going to replace a double check vlv isolator do i need to drain the boiler ? Or can i switch off the boiler and turn off the pressure keys to change the old vlv ?
Thanks for that... really useful. Can I ask.... Why is the replacement cartridge shorter than the one you take out? Seems to have a bit missing ?? Cheers
Would this part only make noise when calling for hot water? Our system has been making a whining noise when only the hot water is called and running and not the heat. Seems like the noise is coming from the head.
You may notice a slight whine if it's clogged or potential debris causing an issue inside, or when you hear it working it may sound like a click which can be a sign of the head going. 👍🏻
This diverter has been replaced 4 maybe 5 times in 7 years on my baxi duotech 24 he, any idea why this fails so often, also recently noticed hot water temp gauge goes over 60 when its set to 50, it also exceeds 65 which is supposed to be the max, do you think there is a fault with something or is this just normal for baxis
Mine has also apparently failed twice in the five years we've lived here. We have noisy pipes and what sounds like a water hammer issue. I wonder if a water hammer arrestor would help.
Hi I have had this issue on 2 boilers and had numerous cartridge valves replaced on both. It was such a joke, in 2018 Baxi even changed the boiler for free, ensuring me this would solve it. The new boiler lasted 15 months before that as well failed. It’s a moving part but it’s been massively under engineered to save costs. What they have saved in component build costs, would now be well outweighed by the amount of breakdown warranty claims. My boiler is currently broken down, awaiting another engineer visit to repair the same fault again. I am now considering getting the boiler replaced with a different manufacturer as it’s proven over 2 boilers these Baxi / Potterton boilers are really unreliable due to this fault.
really clear, thanks perhaps you could over some details a bit slower, what does it mean recommision the boiler, is it just a question of pushing button?
Thank you, Recommissioned and test, so make sure all your work is correct and the boiler functions and performs as it should. I personally test everything from leaks to flue performance while I am there so I do not miss anything nasty that may be lurking 👍🏻
Hello, I have the same boiler. I drained the system and fitted a new radiator, I filled everything back up. Now my problem is I get hot water but no central heating. I can hear it turn on, but no heating to the radiators. So will doing this fix the issue.
Just changed my divertor valve and now my temp is going through the roof. Lots of scary noise coming from boiler. So much so that I've got to switch it off. Any ideas?
Hi Dan. How come this part was changed? I have the same boiler. Some of my radiators are hot, some aren’t even warming up. I’ve checked for air and flushed the system.
This was changed due to the valve not operating correctly so it would either be hot water or heating, the other wouldn’t work at all. It does sound like yours may have either blockages or debris build up with the rads/valves, if some are getting hot you know the valve is working…. Unless they’re piped off the hot water circuit 🧐
@@PlumbingGy I doubt they’re piped off. Everything was working fine. Been off all summer then came winter and some were hot and some weren’t. I’ve thrown some flush into two radiators. I’ll let it get round the system. Then flush it out and see how I get on.
Question, is this a job someone is allowed to do themselves? Quoted £300 for diverter valve replacement by a highly recommended local company. I thought you should never touch the boiler yourself.
It would be different therefore a completely different video. If the person replacing the part cannot identify simple observations before they order the part then they shouldn’t be touching it. Again it would be a different part entirely.
Forget that what I said I noticed on your about your a plumber I was really just didn’t want people getting in trouble and it looks like one of the connections have been leaking On That boiler
Sorry, since when does a plastic cartridge come out in one piece,do an honest video of real diverter cartridge replacement instead of you tube video world
Sorry, but from all the ones I have done only one has ever broken on me, it seems you may be too heavy handed and I would suggest a more careful approach. Thanks
