Thanks for posting this. I have had mine DC15, for over 15 years, or thereabouts and finally just changed out that filter. Yep it was like yours pretty black. Hopefully it will not spew out so much airborne dust, and have better suction. Good job!
I have to admit, I didn't even know the DC 15 "Ball" vacuum had a post motor filter. I've been using this thing since 2006 and its been a reliable workhorse of a vacuum. I'll spend whatever I have to to keep it running. I owe it that much.
Thanks for posting the instructions. Our Dyson has been around a very long time. I’ve replaced the beater bars twice, once for the hose, and thanks to your help the HEPA filter. I wouldn’t worry about damaging the clips on the old filter. In fact, it might be easier just to snap them off as the new filter has built in clips.
You are right about possibly snapping the filter to make it easier. I’ve always just tried to get things done without breaking things. But you certainly could break them and it be perfectly fine. So glad your dyson has served you well for many years. And with proper maintenance like you’ve done, they will last and last and last.
I just bought one..the rare yellow see through brush motor cover, works great comparred to our 30 year old cylinder vacuum lol..but now its time to disassemble and then refurb everything for a keep museum piece of as often is the case, break apart for selling off but finding a yellow dc15 in the wild is real difficult.
That was awesome e, thanks! My dc15 ball is around 13 yrs old and I figured it was about time to replace the filters (for the 1st time!!!). Timely vid and much appreciated
Awesome! Thank you so much for this video. I'm in Australia and bought my DC15 new in 2009.....and still using it. I will attempt to change that post filter a bit later today. I can tell you that I have already damaged it with my previous attempts to get it off though before your video. Kindest regards to you. : )
Yay! I got mine out but do you replace the entire plastic unit or does the filter part come out of the grey plastic part? Mine looks like I'd need to replace the whole part. The filter looks stuck in and attached to the plastic.
I still have my DC 15 Animal purple version. It is my full time user and still works like a charm! I have the Dyson V8 Animal cordless stick in my vacation home and really like it too.
@@DillonCleans my step daughter has one as well. If you cleaned your filter like you’re supposed to…they last. If not, the filter being clogged puts stress on the motor and they burn out. I clean mine after every use.
@@yphonkelley1226 they certainly do last. I personally think cleaning after each use isn’t necessary. But if it works for you go right ahead. I just keep an eye on my filters. Once the top layer of the filter has a layer of dust on it, I will clean it. The dc15 had a reputation of not lasting. But if you take care of them like you do, they will last a lifetime
Awesome to see it still going strong! I recommend also replacing the brushroll as well as the pre motor filter and the post motor filter. The pre motor filter might still be okay but if it’s falling apart after all these years, good idea to replace it. Keep that vacuum running! You don’t see too many of them still working in homes
@@DillonCleans just ordered pre motor filter genuine Dyson on Ebay and a post motor on Amazon. I have never replaced them. Cant wait to see how it works after the new filters as the suction was getting poor.
It’s crazy how some of these didn’t last at all and some lasted a very long time. The dc15 wasn’t reliable so I’m impressed that theirs is still running. Mine hasn’t got much heavy use so mine still has a lot of life still left in it.
@@DillonCleans theres has been abused to extreams they broke the crevice tool and its been taped together for a good 4 years the cords yeeted im shocked it works
@@Cat_festation you could attempt to contact Dyson, however I doubt they would be of much help due to the age of the machine. I would look on Amazon or the internet in general for parts. Possibly eBay as well.
What a bodge! let's just lever it off until it breaks. I have to assume all the positive comments are from friends and family. It's tricky but there is no need to damage a very expensive machine just to change a filter.
Uhhh what. I literally didn’t damage this machine. Dyson made it intentionally hard because it originally wasn’t meant to be replaced. But these machines lasted longer than Dyson intended. So they do need to re replaced. Nothing was damaged. And I told you that you can use a cloth between the screwdriver to avoid damage. Idk what you’re on about. You’re the only one who had a problem with this video. If you think you can do this better. Please make a video better than mine. In the mean time, my video is great. Have a nice day.
