Thank you for the video to reference when I did the job. One thing I did different was I disconnected the 2 first then unscrewed the housing and dropped the filter down, then I unclipped the single one which was much easier to get at that way.
Thanks Just did this on my 17 Jetta 1.4t No issues . I didn’t need any tools as well I have VCDS so primed the system but you don’t really need VCDS for this. Thanks Just used my fingers to gently remove the connections Push the lines toward the filter and then push down on the tabs and pull back on the lines away from the filter Car has 40k miles
Just thought I would say this video helped me change my 2.0 TSI scirocco fuel filter in 10 minutes! Took longer to get the petrol cleaned off than to change the filter
YOU SAVED MY LIFE! My fuel line retaining clip on the black fuel line also got stuck just like yours did in this video. I didn’t realize it wasn’t locked in place and tried to start the car, when i cycled the key i heard a “pop” but didn’t think anything of it. Turns out the black line popped off and spewed high pressure gasoline EVERYWHERE. when i went to turn the engine on, the car sputtered infinitely and wouldn’t start. I panicked. this is my only car, not only that, i had only 2 hours left before i had to be at work and i’m also planning on taking a 6 hour drive to meet my girlfriend’s family TOMORROW! By chance, I decided to rewatch a filter replacement tutorial. I got SO LUCKY that i found this one by Pauly D. When he explained about popping the clip back into the armed position, i lost my mind with happiness. Earlier, to ensure i could get to work, I secured my loose fuel line onto the filter with ZIP TIES and was just hoping and praying that the thing would hold strong until i could replace what i thought was a broken retaining clip. Apparently it’s just stuck. Can’t wait to try that “pick trick” later when I get home from work. THANK YOU PAULY D!! Life-saver!
Thank you for doing these diy videos it’s a huge help !!!!! I’ve learned how to do a fuel pump and filter keep up the great work !!! Especially with 2 tsi engine’s 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Good tutorial, was the same filter and setup on my 2017 Jetta 1.8T, used MANN part WK69 (6.6 bar). Just had one stubborn hose on the intake side that had to be pressed in first in order to get the clip/tab to press in. Did it at 50k. The plastic bracket where the screw goes in also had a plastic tab that had to be broken from the factory in order to open the filter bracket mount.
I didn't have a pick for the front line. I put sturdy wire around it instead and pulled from the bottom with one hand, and wiggled it out with the other. Worked pretty well
SUGGESTION/IDEA: At new or after a replacement, cut a small section of tubing to surround the connection to act as a debris boot to ease future service efforts. Use zip ties(no rust potential) to GENTLY compress the tubing into place on each side of the connection so the tubing doesn't slide. You could also slice the length of tubing to wrap it around the connectors to save disassembly effort. Won't be as protective, but. . Also, maybe a DROP of soapy water into the clip depression section to loosen debris during clip depression to ease removal. Clean the clips with a rag before re-install.
Instead of what you did i had to push that clip more in and then it clicked. Just to be sure removed it and it clicked back in but it does move a little bit back and forth not seeing any leaks so far
Hey Paul great job as usual. Can you guys please make a video on how to fix the rear washer line break issue with the mk6 cars? Mine is broken and leaks into the trunk and interested in DIYing it soon.
Have you tried the Schwaben P-648 Fuel Line Pliers? I'm just wondering if they're worth it and would reduce the risk of breaking the fuel line. Cheers from Switzerland! :-)
Because it is way easier to push in the damn clips when the filter is mounted rather than it flopping around or holding in your hand. Keep it mounted until all the hoses are off.
Is this method the same for CHPA EA211 Golf mk 7 (2013)? Other models from the same year have the fuel filter in the front which can be changed by opening it from the top. But the service manual from ErWin doesn't show this.
I just did this but the car won't start now, I think there is air in the fuel lines. Any tips? Turing the car onto accessory mode won't prime the filter enough or get rid of the air in the fuel pump. edit I had the hoses switched like an idiot.
for that third little clip on the fuel line from the front could you not just unscrew the plastic bracket to get at the clip from the side instead of on top?
This worked for me. The fuel line can rotate a little just enough to get a good grip from the side. Working on jack stands isn't really handy for this repair...
VW South Africa completely ignores the petrol filter and never changes it. I recently bought a 2nd hand A4 2004 model with 220 000 km's and the fuel filter that was in there was produced in 2003... Spoken to many ex-techs from there and they just say that VW doesn't bother with it D:
I couldn't see any clips and busted off the pipe coming out of the old filter. What a stupid way to connect a fuel line. I'm going to try again after looking at the video several times. Seems like all the connectors are fragile and hard to remove and if you screw up it takes major work to fix it. No way as simple as it looks.
Can somebody help?? I replaced the fuel filter on mine and primed the car and the car wont even crank when i turn the key. I dont know what i did wrong, i know youre suppose to prime the car before starting and i did that but i cant even get a crank. I turn the key as if im starting the car regularly and get no crank at all.
MK6 Golf R Stage 2+ here Replaced this with the MaNN filter i purchased, and ever since I've been getting code "Fuel Pressure Sensor Malfunction" P119A - already replaced both pressure sensor and low pressure sensor. Could it be i got the 6.4 bar filter and cause this engine light to come on?
I just did the filter on my 2016 jetta 1.8t & now it wont start. Im thinking i need to prime the system, does anyone know of an easy way other than probing the fuel pump?
@@usa5046 go ahead and explain then. Stalling your engine will pull the pressure away from the pump so theres no fuel pressure at the filter. Opening your gas tank has no effect at all, that would be the best case. In the worst case you allow the gas to flow freely towards the fuel line that used to be connected to the filter. Not opening the gas cap may still leave a slightly negative pressure which will reduce the pressure the fuel has at the filter. Hope you were able to follow me. Now go ahead and explain why im wrong and why your right. Looking forward to that, tho i dont expect a reply...
@@D3nn1s listen junior you have no clue what your talking about removing the gas cap alone relieves the pressure you do not have to stall the engine to do that junior
Have an 2009 GTI heavy modded, TTE420, bigger Injektors, HPFP u think it's time to change my Fuel Filter? BTW I never have problems with Fuel or with the system
Help! So i have a 2010 VW Jetta 2.5 engine currently @ 125k miles. My maitenance schedule has never once reference me to change the fuel filter. Does that mean I do not need to change it at all unless given issues? Isnt that bad to leave the fuel filter in for that long? Please can anybody help???
Is it a problem if the "push pins" are partly broken? I mean my buddy tought it's a pull pin, so he pulled the fuck out all of em. After the filter replacement he secured the fuel lines with the remaining pin parts (I saw the process, it remained in palce). Is it possible to replace the push pins or the fuel line ends only, or do I have to help him install a brand new fuel line?
Hey dude I have an Audi TT mk2 2L tfsi and for some reason it keeps leaking petrol... it's like exactly under the center of the engine bay so kinda at the 4 th piston from the left any idea on what that could be my car has been in and outa the shop several times now and when i prime the fuel pump it makes a weird blowing sound... just a general answer would be appreciated!
well if it is leaking by the engine bay it could b leaking from the fuel rail, or fuel injectors. That would be my first guess. but if it has been in and out of the shop, i dunno because I would assume any mechanic that knows what he is doing would catch that?
glibaudio crankshaft sensor between the transmission and the engine. Took about a month of dealing with it shutting off until it threw the code. Sensor was about $60. I did the camshaft sensor on top of the engine too which was also $60.
M yeah, its just odd they went that way with mk7 golf, my 2017 jetta with 1.8t gen 3 engine had the cartridge under fuel fill side of car. I’m assuming it is just a cost cutting measure?
VAG connectors, no matter where and what they are used for are the absolute worst engineered things I have seen. It’s as if they don’t care about people needing to change these things 7-8 years down the line while the car sees salt and snow for sometimes 3-4 months of the year... Everything from electrical connectors to clips to these...
My Mk5 GTI doesn't always start smoothly. Video: f.maxkoning.nl/IMG_2504.mp4 Could this be caused by a fuel filter that needs to be replaced? Spark plugs & battery are already replaced.
