Yea that’s cool and all but that’s how they keep the lights on. So you get it diagnosed and then don’t get it fixed ? People like that is the reason my check is short sometimes because I have no choice but to go home at lunch some days
Spiritwalker79 I used your video as a reference for my 2012 Hyundai Veloster because of the same engines. 4 10mm bolts to drop the passenger side bottom cover, 12 mm bolt, bracket, and fastener all in the same spot. I was able to get a flex head ratchet in for removal. Very easy to do on vehicle ramps with a $65 part from O’Rielly. Thank you, I appreciate it!
Thank you for the video. I had to replace this but I couldnt figure it out. I had a mechanic( a good trustworthy) one help me but other mechanics tried to tell me it was other stuff but I knew they were lying about stuff after I watched your video. Got myself a bit more informed. Thank you
So many mechanics these days appear to be honest but are not. Whatever you can do yourself it's definitely worth it and you save money in the process. One item that I would recommend you getting when you can afford it and you do not have to get the most expensive one... Is a scan tool. Whenever your check engine light comes on you can plug in the scan tool and read the codes that your car has. You can take that code whatever pops up go online and discover the exact problem with your car. Definitely worth the investment. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. I'm glad that this helped you!
i got the knock sensor code. but my problem is, the engine cranks but wont start. will the knock sensor prevent it from starting? if it will, ill replace it b4 doing anything else. if it wont, i need to keep trying to figure out why it cranks but wont catch.
My Kia Soul 2013 1.6 produces a noise like a cricket when I use close to 3k rpm, I went to the mechanic that did the cleaning of the injection system but not solve, but noto difference in the noise level when I use regular and super gas, the regular makes more noise, I heard that it could be the sensor of detonation, what is your opinion.
After getting the knock sensor code...I replaced it. About a week later...the same code returned. Im losing no mpg and the engine sounds fine. In your case...I would start with the small stuff. Clean the air sensor and clean the throttle body. Watch your mpg...see if u notice a difference. Sometimes vehicles develop noises that are hard to detect. Also run a can of Gumout tune up in a can through the tank. It contains p.e.a. a cymical great for cleaning injectors in modern vehicles. If you know someone with a obd2 scan tool...look at live data and see if its running possibly rich or lean. I use synthetic oil...castrol edge 5w-20. It made a difference in fuel mileage as it flows better.
Did you get the knock sensor bolt out from underneath the car? The only way I can even see it is to pull out the intake manifold, which is no fun at all.
Asm A Tik Transmissions ...no no man. Look for the wire....the bolt goes through the center and into the block. Yes, Jack up the vehicle, look for the starter. You will see the knock sensor wiring harness. Trace it back...bolt runs through the center of the round end...very easy job brother.
Did this work for you? Or did the code come back? My wifes friend has a 13 soul and the same code still. I replaced the knock sensor for her last summer. Fixed for a few weeks then code started coming in an out again. Now it stays on and as soon as I clear it its pending again. I doubt it's the sensor at this point.
Isnt there a mark on the block that the sensor is supposed to line up with?? I think if the manifold is removed 1st, access to the sensor is a clear shot, and No special wrench is necessary, also the alignment mark is more visible.
Yeah I just wanted to do it in a more timely manner the manifold could definitely be removed first. I place the new one back in the same exact position check engine light went off no issues
Replaced the clutch in my 13 well. My son and his buddy pulled it out, and i got it mostly back together. Now, when the knock sensors hooked up, it won't start and rpm is not reading
Try to look for wiring harnesses as you look up and around from under the vehicle. Find the one with the same look and you should be able to see on the other end where it bolts to the block
I got stuck on trying to get the old harness off the grommet clip thing. Took me 2 hours poking and proding and pulling in every direction and still stuck on. I had to put the new sensor on and just zip tie all the loose wiring up. My old sensor is still there tied up and dangling 😂. Any suggestions? I guess if my new sensor goes faulty I have the old one at the ready haha
