Replacing the ignition module on a Weber Genesis e-310, but this process is similar for many other models. Please mash that thumbs up if you found this helpful! This video is for entertainment purposes only.
I bought this as my first propane grill. It's been a fun, learning experience ru-vid.comUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I think it's a bit too pricey after looking at other grills, but it wasn't hard to put together and it works really well. I love the side burner option for heating food during a power outage. I have an electric stove and live in the South (Hurricane season), so this was a bonus. I also bought a cover for it and it has protected it nicely (the Char Broil All-Season Grill Cover 3-4 Burner: Large). Every few grill sessions, I take the rack (or grate) and burner covers off and clean them with a non-abrasive scrubby and mild soap. I wipe the excess off of the bottom as well, taking care to avoid the gas and pilot lines.
Ditto to all the preceding, positive comments. That's my grill. That's my part. Weber was kind enough to send me a new one, for free, for my five year old grill. Was surprised to find a battery in the starter and thought, I'm a genius, this will be easy. But no, the new battery did nothing. Was very helpful to see you walk thru the process. Many thanks!
Great video! Got my problem fixed 57 seconds into this video. I did not know there was a battery on the igniter... Lit right up after replacing battery.
Nice video but you may have wasted $50 and a half hour of work. I had the same problem a week after washing my grill and watched your video. I tried popping the battery and like you found a bit of rust and corrosion. Looked inside the battery housing tube with a flashlight and saw that the terminal was also rusty. I hot glued a circle of sandpaper to the tip of a wood dowel and rotated it inside the housing for a minute. and then blew out the dust. Popped in a fresh battery and voila! Celebrated a few hours later with some Costco prime ribeyes with the money I saved. Had the corrosion been there much longer and gotten worse this may not have worked but a 10 minute no-cost fix is worth a try.
Thanks a bunch for doing this. Solved my problem for much less than I'm sure it would have cost to have someone else service it. Would have had no idea how to fix it without your vid. Works fine now.
You are AWESOME for putting up this video!! I was about to follow the instructions on the igniter replacement manual which looks like a 5 hour job with 2 people dismantling the entire grill, but I saw your video and replaced it in less than 5 minutes!! Perhaps I would have figured out to just pull out the wires and replace the igniter box only but I put this off for almost a year intimidated by the ridiculous manual. Thank you for showing me the easy way!
Thanks bro... You just remind me the fact that there was a battery to change in this device. I a ashamed... I was about to order a new ignition kit. But it now works like brand new.
Just got a replacement and looked at the directions - thought it was going to be easier to buy a new grill. But with this video in hand, done in 10 minutes. Thank YOU!
Thank you sir! Received the part today and replaced it in less than 5 mins after watching your video. Replaced battery first but that didn't work. Now it lights up like brand new.
I also have a Genesis E310, did exactly what the video shows (replaced only the igniter module and left the original wires and burner attachments in place), and it worked perfectly!!!
I had water in my ignition module - simply took it off and put into a bowl of rice for a day or 2 to pull out the moisture. Reassembled and now it works great. Thanks for the video!
Ha!! I followed YOUR instructions and I did it!!! Surprised the snot out of my husband too!! Thanks! PS -- I had to replace the push button module (which came in the package) and there were several more "piece parts" in the package that I did not even use -- I felt like a real guy just for this!! LOL!! 😆
@@HilltownCT I plugged your channel in my review on the Weber site! My review was listed as Anonymous (not sure why, because I thought I included my name) www.weber.com/US/en/grills/gas-grills/gas-replacement-parts/igniter-kit/7628.html
Thanks for posting. I was able to fix without replacing. If you are still getting some weak clicks intermittently, try cleaning the battery terminals. Mine were a little dirty and now after cleaning the ignitor is firing like new.
Check the battery first. I had no idea there was a battery in there (ignition button). Replaced my factory issued battery and then my grill worked. It's a simple fix before you start tearing the grill apart. My grill was only a few years old though...
So, I ordered the replacement part only to find out the screws to remove the plate on the grill won't budge. Grrr! Any suggestions for loosening or even tapping these screws? I've tried every Phillips head screw driver imaginable.
You could try turning the screwdriver as you rap the end of the handle with a hammer. Just don’t smash your hand. Usually, the taps from the hammer are enough to break the screws loose.
@@HilltownCT Thanks, I'll try this! I managed to get one screw off by placing duct tape between the screw head and Phillips screwdriver but the 2nd screw wouldn't budge.
Thanks...this is just a guess because I don’t have a sizing chart. #6-16x.5 flat trim machine screw. It’s not the space shuttle, so I’m sure you’ll get something to work :-)
Why do you say that? I changed the module out as shown and still cannot get the clicking to get ignition. Could it be the push button? Tried multipel batteries.
