I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a mechanic. I watched the video and was able to change out my alternator and serpetine belt in very little time. I saved a ton of money, since I knew the repair shop was trying to take me to the bank. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!

Awesome video! My Alternator went bad, luckily I was a block from home....coasted the rest of the way, pulled up the video and watched it a couple times, pulled out the alternator and installed a new one plus a new battery since the old one was on its last legs, probably due to the old alternator being all over the place as it was going dead, the whole job took me maybe a few hours including removal running to get parts and installing. Very helpful video, your videos have helped me with other things too, but the shop wanted $370 plus tax and would have charged for a new battery too, so probably would have cost me over $650 and $150 for a tow truck since the alternator wasn't charging at all. In all thanks to your video, I got the job done in a few hours, and just $138 for an alternator and paired it with a new battery which I got for free under warranty! It was an easy job, so surprised how much they were going to charge for this kind of a thing, it wasn't that difficult or time consuming at all. Awesome video!

GREAT video! My rig went haywire this morning and left me stranded on the highway. Just got done changing mine out along with the pulley tensioner. Just a tip though, if replacing with an aftermarket Alt, the back bracket you bolt into may be too short. It bolts in just below with a 1/2", if you undo it just slightly the bracket will move up allowing you to get the bolt in straight.

The alternator used on your application will more than likely mount differently.

@macdeezy2915 You may want to check your alternator gauge inside of the car to see if the alternator is charging correctly. You should be able to pull the tensioner up to remove the belt. It you can't the belt may be to short.

There are 2 push tabs u can knock a little bit out and the alternator will slide right in its bracket. The push tabs are in the screw slots just so u know

It may be a similar process. Most alternators only have 2-3 bolts that hold them in place.

The 3 bolts on both trucks I worked on are 13mm. Also, some don't have the rear brace.

While driving, the lights dim on the vehicle when braking. I checked the batt. its putting 12v reference, so would that indicate a faulty alternator. I believe the bearings are gone because after checking all the pulleys, which are fine, it was the only thing left I couldn't check.

Hey guys. Quick question. My voltmeter in my jimmy goes low when I accelerate above 2,000 rpm, and now it stays at 9v, no matter what I do. I thought it was a.worn belt but now I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

is there a voltage regulator that should be replaced on a 99 jimmy suv?....also i have never heard the jimmy called a s- 15 before

The s15 is the gmc pickup S10 is the Chevy pickup, blazer and jimmy are suvs, pre '95 blazers were called s10 blazers because Chevy had a full size blazer, so the s10 distinguished the two. As far as I know gmc never had a full size jimmy so it never needed the s15 label. Also the olds bravada is a blazer but with a one piece front shaft

I am trying to get the alternator replaces on a 2002 S-10 blazer. I have the battery disconnected and both bolts out at the bottom. There is NOT a third bolt. It will not come out.

HI John, If you have a flat head screw driver see if there's a tab between the bracket and the alternator that needs to be pressed into the alternator to loosen it up a bit. Just don't pry on the bracket too hard. If that doesn't work and you're positive that all of the bolts are out, you can try to gently slip a pry bar under it, to pry is out of the bracket. Just be careful and make sure you're not prying on something that you're gonna break. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
