A simple video giving some pointers on changing an alternator on a Sedona since I couldn't find much online when I needed it. Hope it helps! Thumbs up if you like it
Helpful and the best video I could find on alternator replacement on the internet. I replaced one on a 2008 Kia Sedona everything is similar to the 2006. Thanks
This is by far the easiest way of doing this that I found. It took all of maybe 2 hours to remove amd replace. I had to get down on the ground 2 times. Once to remove the cross member bottom bolt and the second to pit it back on. Once you remove that fan. You have really easy access to the alternator. Thanks for the video and ideas
Seems to be a lot of haters on this video. Maybe you should have replaced their alternator yourself. My ex just called and gave me the symptoms of a dead alternator ,and asked if I could fix it. I knew it wouldn't be like a 1970's Chevrolet truck ,but wasn't sure just how bad it was to get to it. It didn't look near as bad as some I've had to fix. She lives across the state and I didn't wanna drive all that distance without an idea of what I was getting in to.
You have to replace your valve cover gasket in the front or you will foul your new alternator. I did my gasket cover a year ago and hoped the alternator was good but it just went on me. Also note that the usual Sedona alternator has a metal cap and a 2 wire connector. If you have the dvd system, it is a plastic cap with a 4 wire system.
How long (miles) did that alternator last before going out? My van has 80,000 miles - just finished major tune up with Kia TSB ENG 028 (replacement of failing timing chain tensioner). I pretty much replaced everything except for alternator and A/C compressor while I was in there.
Sang Kim, it only lasted maybe 15,000 miles and had been on the van only 2 yrs since last being replaced. I believe the reason it went so fast is due to oil leaking on it from the engine head
Same here. Front and back valve cover started leaking oil at 50K miles. Took me 4 hours to replace them, but my alternator survived it (It was covered in thick gunk of oil). I gave it shot of simple green and hosed it down and it has been working well for past 30,000 miles. thanks
@@kalsikml he cleaned all the oil of the alternator with simple green.do u know what simple green is .its a householdcleaner in a spray on bottle similar to other cleaners except i thimk its made from natural products most stores carry it and its actually a kick ass cleaner
patrick alan if you didn't already get it, I believe there were just a couple screws towards the top you have to remove and the bottom just sits in a slot. Hope that helps
Ben Hall thanks for responding I did end up figuring it out. The one I was working on was an 05 the bolts were surrounded by stuff had to get in at weird angles but we got it. Thanks again.
If only it was that "simple." With my 2009 Sedona, that option was impossible. (bolt did not have a head on it).... In any case, having the fan assembly off really made for much, much easier job.... (including disconnecting the wires in back)
