We are renovating this 2000 Holiday Rambler Motorhome (Watch the before tour here • MOTORHOME TOUR - RV Re... ) and we ripped out and replaced the entire ceiling. In this video we go through each step we took to take this RV ceiling from tired and dated to streamlined and classic.

compressed cardboard is highly moisture absorbent, (your ceiling material choice) RV's are highly humidity prone and RV ceilings highly leak prone...

I really don't see what's wrong with the "before" ceiling. That grooved panel is really not the best choice foe a ceiling. Best to keep the roof well sealed on the outside BEFORE leaks occur. I happen to really like the late 80's / 90's look, but it's their RV, and I appreciate the passion.

I do love the look of it, but when I bought my house, the flippers put that bead board on my basement walls and every time I went downstairsI could smell wet cardboard despite running a humidifier. Hubby and I tore it out and drywalled. Curious if everyone putting this bead board in their rv’s notice a smell?

Type paint did you use as a primer & final coat. What prep did you do to the walks before priming & poo ainting. Great video.

We use a Gripper primer, and always use Scuff-X paint from Benjamin Moore for our topcoat.

We scuff the walls with 220 and wipe it down with a degreaser for prep work.

How long did the ceiling take you guys? I imagine 2-3 days for it. I'm planning to redo a trailer ceiling soon and not sure how to budget my time to get it ready for ski season.

From tear out to fully rebuilt was about a week, but we had several other projects thrown into the middle there.
