At around $100 an hour (or more) for a mobile RV tech, you guys saved a ton of money by doing it yourself. I’ve replaced three or four converters over the years. Our last WFCO converter overcharged/“cooked” our house batteries. So I tossed the WFCO converter and replaced it with a 4-stage Progressive Dynamics converter. No problems since. Speaking of surge protectors, we use a Progressive Industries EMS (Electrical Management System). A bit pricey, but it does much more than a surge protector. We once worked at a KOA, and those 30 amp receptacles were notorious for failing due to heavy usage. So we’re very careful where we plug in our motorhome. Over the years our EMS has identified a few miswired campground RV power pedestals. You’d be surprised to see how many people have mistakenly wired an electric dryer receptacle to use for their RV. Some folks have even paid “experienced electricians” who screwed up and wired the RV receptacle at 240 volts. PS: you might want to edit your title. Because you replaced your CONverter, not your INverter. Two different components that do different things. PPS: did you do a second video of your slideout motor replacement?

why didn't you just replace the two capacitors,. soldering new ones can be easy sometimes and cheaper.they last or have a lifespan of about 10,000 hours

Any time you fiddle with electric components, use insulated drivers, screw driver's etc... Don't wear jewelry. Save the old unit and replace the dry capacitor keep the old inverter for a spare down the road. That capacitor will run only a few bucks online.👍✌️

Why didn't you show the DC wire position when clipping the board back in?

Mine was also hooked to 220v and that same cap blew up. I replaced that cap and fuse in microwave all good.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this helpful video. I bought my ex wife's camper 6 months ago and the minute I moved in, things began to break down. I spent $800 in the 1st 3 months on repairs and did most of it myself just going to youtube and watching others do the jobs. 3 weeks ago, we had a tornado and nightmare storm. There was a loud boom and all the power went out in the area. When it came back on 5 hours later, my lights were all blinking in camper and then they would go off and only come back on if I plugged a space heater in and turned it on "high" (insane) I called 3 electricians, told them what was happening and they said they never heard of anything like that. The guy who came out charged $100 service call fee and another $75 to run diagnostic tests on electrical system and told me my converter (same one you guys bought was shot. He just happened to have one in his truck and he had written "$359.00" on the box with a giant sharpie. I did not see this until AFTER he put it in. It only took him 8 minutes to install. I took out all the screws before he arrived. So this guy says "okay, ur all fixed up...that will be $534.00! I said "Excuse me sir"? He said yep, that's what I paid for the part before I came over here. I said "Sir, I'm going online to see what I can find". Within 2 minutes on Amazon, I found the MBA 8900 series converter kit for $170. Should have seen this crooks face! He new he was caught. So he takes the part out and I ask him if he will return to install the new part in 2 days when it arrives and he reluctantly says "Yes". It arrived this morning. I called him and got answering machine. Left message and he text me back telling me "sorry I am busy today" so wait another day without power as there is no battery on the RV. It's planted on jacks on 2 acres of land running off power meter. I will buy a battery this weekend. Thanks to you guys I will be able to assemble this myself now! It would have been nice when you were struggling to find the right tool, you would have mentioned what it was, to remove the wire from the breaker.

I have a WF-8735P since my unit failedand purchased a WF-8955....Nothing is the same and no videos showing how to replace ..nothing, no cabinet where it would fit , two completely different units. . Its a head-scratcher.

What was the brand converter you used? Your model looks similar. How can I find the model number on my RV?

You may want to test it BEFORE you reinstall. Just get all wiring clear so nothing is touching. Turn it on and check. Turn off the power and complete the install.

Did you notice that your converter was running very loud? Thinking I made need a new Converter in our rv as it runs extremely loud most of the day.

I'm here for the kitty but stayed for the repair. Ha.

How do I know which one I need to purchase. On mine it says 8955PEC130708. Does that mean the one in the description is the exact one I need? Because there is also another barcode and it says AC04W136629930.
