I am doing this now - you can loosen or even remove the 41mm nut while it is still on the car, but you may need a thin wall socket or a normal silver one. I couldn't so had to take the whole strut somewhere with a large impact wrench to undo it and it was quite easy with the correct tool. My next problem was getting the metal tube of the new airspring over the large o-ring - it was stiff and no grip to hold.
Any other idea figuring this out why it still leaks after replacement ? I had a leak at the top of the strut....never checked for other places and just assume is either the bag or the gasket...purchased the bag and follow all instructions here step by step and reinstalled. With the new bag it still leaks at the same place, top of the strut. What else could cause the leak up there other than a defective new/old blown bag and the little 2 gaskets that get installed on the strut which are the new ones provided that I used.
what is your source for the air bag assembly? when I replaced my front drivers side I only found whole strut assembly. and how much does this cost versus getting a whole strut? I can only imagine that this is much cheaper if you don't need to replace the strut.
John Medhurst I did change mine on my own I bought the air spring bag on eBay shipped from china is about $ 250 including shipping cost. I was by myself and couldn't got the opportunity to take a video coverage and post it on RU-vid
I tearout the upper 9mm bolt? Pillar? And cannot detach the 18mm bolt, ㅜㅜ how can i replace it, i sprayed wd40 and on and on . . But 9mm part does not fix properly t.t
If you can’t get the 9mm out, you can’t get the shock out. Buy a new strut. Try to loosen the 41mm from the car, it’s easier ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4pyzyftN3wg.html
djenn434 when you buy the bag, the rings are provided. Don’t try to fix the leaks with the rings, they don’t work, the rings are only to prevent the bag to move up/down too fast that break the bag.
djenn434 because the ring on top leaks more than the bottom, hence you see the leaks on the top. I’m 99.99% sure that the ring won’t fix the leaks LOL.
@@3dogs1monkey I'm not really sure what you meant by last statement. If airbag itself is leaking, why would air shoot out top of strut? Wouldn't it leak out side of strut under the boot? I haven't taken one of these apart but the airbag rubber seems like just a outer sleeve that keeps inside air tight. So air enters through valve, pressurizes metal chamber which is sealed by rubber airbag, lower o-ring, and upper o-ring. It seems like when you tested air bag in other video having to seal top hole and bottom hole proves the two O-rings are needed for strut/shock to hold air. What am I missing? Doesn't really matter I guess, I already sent leaking strut back to seller and now am looking at a rebuild kit .
Took me a while to find, but this is how you de pin the connector so you don’t have to cut. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RytEwNbhak4.html
