How to Replace Battery in Mercedes-Benz C300 W205 W206 and E300 W213 step-by-step instructions

Step-by-step Instructions for How to Replace Battery in Mercedes-Benz C-class C300 W205 and E300 W213
Lift battery cover
Remove Cabin Air Filter by lifting and pulling cover
If you would like to save settings you will need to use OBD2 Memory Saver
You don't have to use Memory Saver if you don't care about settings
You will need to connect Memory Saver to other car cigarette lighter or external car battery
Connect to other vehicle cigarette lighter, battery or external 12v battery
Connect Memory Saver to ODB2 port
Using 10mm wrench/socket detach Negative terminal first!
Remove positive terminal cover
disconnect positive terminal
Remove battery hold-down with T-45
Disconnect battery vent hose
Carefully remove battery
Install new battery
Reinstall battery hold-down
Positive terminal should be connected first!
Connect negative terminal
Disconnect Memory Saver from ODB2 port
Reinstall positive terminal cover
Attach negative terminal
Connect battery vent hose
Reinstall air filter
Reinstall cover

My W205 2015's batt cover lid is different. It has 6 little tabs that you have to turn and a large plastic tab that goes down nxt to the batt port. Good thing it's not over engineered. :)

@@NewRoad Thank you, yes, although the lid is different (air filter is built into it) after a few min wrestling it worked. Since I was there replaced the filter too and the engine filter so I think I saved a million bucks in dealer money :) Also thank you for the videos! Next will be the spark plugs, then brakes in the summer.

Can you explain again the memory settings please- You connect this under the socket port and the battery connectors to the new battery? and leave it? how do you check if settings completed?

You just leave it, so the computer is not reset

Thank you for this easy video! The dealer wants to charge me $559 to do this? The only reason why I skeptical about DIY is because I was told that they need reset the system to match the cars system that way I get more out of the battery. I have a 2020 Mercedes C300 2L Di Turbo DOHC 4 cyl. Is the above statement true? Is there anything special that I need to do? Thank you!

@@MSMax-ix8rrit’s bs though cause if the battery goes to shit you use your 3 year warranty you got on it (: only a $200 battery . $50 warranty if that . And you’re covered essentially for 3 years even if it breaks down you get a new one for free

I need a help. Week ago my car show "stop car and leave engine running". So I changed main battery (by myself). Since then car shows "BATTERY NOT CHARGED" or "CHARGE BATTERY". The new battery is the same as old one, fully charged. Where is the problem???

Do you have ODB 2 reader to see if you have any error codes that can give more details. I didn't have such problem. What year is your car?

@@NewRoad Any battery with a same parameters can be used. Parameters are different for different engines. For example V6 with start/stop has 92Ah, 850A

I watch your video to see what is involved in new battery install. I had new battery install at mech. Shop in NY afterward ,R lowbeam headlight not working. My lamp bulb & fuses are good. How to reset system.I don't have a scanner or diagnostic tester. Lastly, can a circuit test be good to check relay modules.

So the setting saver just saves all of your cars setting for the whole car? Its not like BMW where the computer tries to evaluate your battery then adjusts settings like charging and charging capacity over the life of the battery.

Hey love the video ! Quick question ! So I’m looking into installing a light up Star. In doing so I have to disconnect my battery. Do I need a memory saver ? Or can I just disconnect it with no worries ? My fear is that I will lose memory coding or have any issues ? Thanks anything will help I have a 2017 c300 w205

Yes, you may loose your programming as far as I am aware. To be honest, I've never tried since I have memory saver. Shouldn't be a big problem though - if you ok to reset clock, radio, seats, etc.

NOT NECESSARY TO HAVE A MEMORY SAVER, just change the battery and the rest of the car is intelligent enough to remember what’s important.

for my 2015 C Class 300 , i had this “ stop shift to p leave engine running “ message. i replaced the auxiliary battery bc i had a message saying there was a malfunction. car was good for a day now i got the message back. of “ shift to p leave engine running “. o reilly had said my hood battery is good. any thoughts

It's either the battery or the charging system. I would think that it's main battery that need to be replaced. How old is it?
