Thank you for posting this when you did!! i spent hours trying to find answers i needed and this actually helped. I now know i can replace the boots and pins while the brackets still on the vehicle. I always do my own work and usually good at looking at things to figure them out. everyone needs a refresher every once in a while tho. Thank you again!

you're the only video that tests the pins after replacement how they bounce in and out because I couldn't tell if mines are ok. Thanks to you now I can see how they're supposed to work

I had the same question. I came here to see if the pins are supposed to push out on their own and it looks like the answer is no.

@@Packer1290 yes they should bounce back when you push them with your finger like spring motion. at least one should

I just wanted to say thank you for going back and changing the boots cuz my acura tl has the exact same boots and when I asked the guy at autozone if you just jam them in there he honestly said "sorry, I don't even know where those go" and I know one of my boots has a small tear cuz I just changed my brakes earlier today and after I was done I looked up the importance of the boots which is why I now have to go back and change them but every video online was a different type of boot...so once again...thank you!

Thank you for posting this video. I was going to buy new caliper brackets as I thought my guide pins were not moving in & out easy enough and you mentioned that there should be some resistance after lubing & reinserting them in the bracket. The little things like what you're showing here is what saves you money in the long haul.

Great video, would you be able to tell me, would there be clunking due to excess movement if those boots wear down, thank you

Thanks for video. I've seen comments about conditioning the boots. It's that just with silicone grease? And will cleaning them with brake cleaner damage the boots?

Hi. How do you remove the caliper brake pin guide bolts boots that have a metal end? Also how do you install new ones? This is for a 2005 Hummer H2.

Is it really necessary to have that 18 inch backup on there. I just replaced my brake pads and I didn't really need a backup. But now I found the old pads were wearing unevenly. The inside pad was wearing faster than the outside pad. Was told its the guide pins that may need to be replaced. Is this correct?

i changed my brake pads this weekend and I noticed a small hole in the rubber sleeve. Oil was slowly coming out of it. Will this cause major problems?

Good job. I did mine sometime ago in my Nissan Skyline Gt but my guide pins as rubber close to the end and they were hard to push back in. So i took them off and they went in fine. What could be the cause of this happening?

Dried out grease. Boot was already compromised. It eventually allowed in air, debris and road dirt

Do the guide pin with the rubber gasket at the tip go at the top of the caliper?
