It should be noted that there are actually three screws securing the back panel in place. The video only shows (and mentions) two, but there is a third in the center of the panel.
Wow! Multiple Lexus dealers have told me that the LX470 didn’t have cabin air filters… I suspected there were filters just like the SC400. The US market ones of those had no filters installed but the slot was there… will check our LX470. Bought new and serviced at Lexus dealers since new LOL.
@@filterheads yes I know. I wasn’t aware that the LX470 had a filter since the dealerships have told me it doesn’t have one. I will be changing it out/installing one soon
Should also mention to vacuum out the space that the filters just came out of. Did you see all of the debris that was falling out when the filters were being removed.
I have a 2003 LX470. As lamborgotti noted, there are 3 screws on the back panel. Also on the left side of the glove box I have a small pain in the butt retract line that has to be disconnected before you can completely remove the box. Don't unhook this lines looped end from it's connecting point. Just push the plastic part it is hooked to towered the front of the box door. It will slip off a screw you can't see until it is unhooked. Once unhooked, It will retract to the upper left of the box opening. I hope this helps someone.
Thanks for the video. My 1998 lx 470 cabin filter body does not seem as deep as yours in the video, are there versions of the filter thay are not as long? I have measured the internal dimensions of the cabin filter bay, 23cm high, 15cm deep? Any ideas? Do i buy a set and snap them in half?
It should be the same but it sounds like yours is different. If you send us a photo and dimensions of the filter in your housing to our email sales@filterheads.com we can further assist you.
Yes this vehicle requires 2 filters. When you purchase from filterheads, you will get both filters in one single package. Purchase your new filter at: www.filterheads.com/
There are three (not just two, as described) screws in the back panel! If you don’t remove the hidden center screw you will crack the back panel…as I did. When you replace the first (lower) filter you must then press it down (against a spring) to slide the second filter in and on top of the lower filter. If you don’t do this it will not fit and you will spend a frustrating hour trying to figure out WHY that second top filter does not fit. That little retaining string on the left side of the glove box door requires four hands to reattach it. That’s why Toyota/Lexus dealers don’t reattach it. Just means the glove box drops hard on its stop. So what? This is yet another video that fails to accurately portray the realities of a fix.
