Excellent video! Helpful and informative. AND, echoing others, I believe this video should be prefaced with the import and need to depressurize the fuel system first! A noob could follow this video and potentially end up with a horrific spray of gas in the backseat... When I work on our family's vehicles, I depressurize the line by (1) removing the EFI/fuel pump fuse, then cranking the ignition for about 5-10 seconds, and then (2) cracking open the fuel rail banjo bolt to release any further pressure. Then, when you disconnect the fuel line at the access port, at the start of this video, only a tiny bit of gas will escape. With gloved hands and paper towels at the ready, you'll be all set.

Thank you for this Video, I have a 2003 Toyota Camry, engine light is on, Code is for O2 sensor 1 bank 1.. i replaced it, but the light remains on. I replaced the mass air flow sensor, and PCV valve, plugs, air filter, and oil, and Cat. Light remains on, with the same code. So It was suggested I may have LOW fuel pressure. At 225k miles... this video, made my life a lot easier.

My comments are years late but this is very informative and helpful, I have a '99 Camry ce and until now I had no idea that the feul filter housing was under the back seat, seeing your videos it makes sense now!! Well my Camry was manufactured in Kentucky. I would say that when I put gas in, I notice that the gauge reads slow and after a few minutes then it starts to rise, my question is should I just replace everything instead of just the floater?? You see it 358 thousand plus miles.

They say Never run gas empty and Never below a 1/4 of a tank. Fuel pump should be emerged in gasoline and not running dry. This will make it wear out quicker. Also when filling tank and gas pump kicks off don't keep filling. Both makes pump wear out quicker.

Replaced pump, filters and pressure regulator. Fuel pressure drops, which makes the first start after parking difficult. After reassembly (without replacing anything), the problem goes away for about a year, then returns again. I can't figure out where the leak might be occurring.

Watch for bad crankshaft sensors on this model one way to tell is check engine light wont go out during cranking you wont hear power up buzz on these cars the power up during cranking so be careful diag a bad crank sensor will shut pump off

Overall Good video but he's not using a factory fuel sending unit when he shows you how to remove the pump. Luckily my pump came with instructions with diagrams depicting an OEM fuel sending unit and how to remove it.

In my personal experience, 200,000 miles or 20 years is when I would replace the fuel pump. Doesn't matter the make or model. I have noticed this over the years with many cars.

The fuel gauge is really slow to correspond after filling the tank. What do you have to replace?

+Zach Marshall The sending unit may be going bad if the fuel gauge has been slowing down during fill-ups. The fuel gauge level sends a signal to the gauge as to how much fuel is in the tank. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com

No, the strainer and filter are different. The fuel filter should be in the engine bay under the air box. At least it is on my 2001 V6 Camry

You should also de-pressurise the system first before opening anything up. To do that you need to unplug the electric cable from the top of the pump, then start the car. It will stall after a second. After that, take the key out, disconnect the negative battery terminal, and then open your fuel filler cap. Then it will be safe to open the fuel pump.

Sorry, but this video is seriously lacking in information. Where’s the instructions to depressurize the system? How about the instruction to disconnect the negative battery terminal? Since you’re teaching noobs, how about safety instructions as you’re letting gas fumes into the vehicle? How about instructions on alignment of the various parts? And remembering orientation? Remember, you’re teaching guys with limited experience. These things take just seconds but they can make the difference between success and failure, and they will ensure the safety of those who try this replacement.
