I’m so happy that you said that your vehicle was sitting for “a few years“… My 2010 explorer XLT has been sitting for a couple of years… And I am in the process of getting the brakes looked after. Thank you for your video! Q: I am going to have the rotors and pads replaced, but should I expect that the calipers need to be replaced as well?

Video is good, 2 things I would add...make sure to align the slide pins correctly for the caliper to seat properly and I would recommend torquing the caliper bracket bolts to 122 ft. lbs. before torguing the caliper slide pin bolts to 53 ft. lbs. Other than that video well executed.

Nice and detailed, like that you compared the pads and took the time to say that they were not done, "about 5K..." but rusted And I like the bungee cord idea! When I changed my pads/rotor, the manufacturer recommended bedding them in, did you skip that part of is it not required?

Very well done video. Questions: Do you recommend anti-seize on the 21mm caliper bolts? How much torque on 21mm caliper bolts and 17mm slide bolts? Thanks

Excellent video... I recently replaced both front rotors and brake pads and callipers but now I can't seem to get brake pressure. I did bleed the new callipers and when pumping the pedal it builds pressure but quickly loses it then pedal goes to the floor. Very frustrated... what am I doing wrong? Is it possible a faulty calliper? Vehicle is a 2007 Ford Explorer sport trac
@maxxpower8961
@maxxpower8961 7 лет назад
1A Auto Parts thanks for the quick response... I made a bone head mistake! I had both front callipers on the wrong side so the bleeders were on the down side instead of up like they should be so I guess it created a air bubble so it wouldn't keep pressure. Anyway the brakes work great now. I'm learning!

Thanks for the great video! This was really informative and applicable to my 2007 Mountaineer as well. I'm having trouble with the bolts holding the bracket to the hub - they are incredibly tight and so far I can't break them loose. Is it safe to use an impact wrench on them? And on reassembly, do you know the recommended torque setting for the two different bolt types? Thanks!
@1AAuto
@1AAuto 7 лет назад
+Willie Macris You could try to spray some penetrating oil on them, and then use PB Blaster to try to break them free. A breaker bar may also help.
@PixelPlateauEngineering
@PixelPlateauEngineering 7 лет назад
Thanks for the info! I used PB Blaster and a 4-foot piece of pipe as an extension on the wrench. Eventually got them loose. Once I did, the rest was easy! Exactly as pictured in your video. Thanks

How good are these nakamotos! Trying to get some for my Scion Tc, do they squeal 1 year in?
@1AAuto
@1AAuto 7 лет назад
+DJ Tecktock Thanks for watching. Nakamoto makes very high quality brakes, and they should not squeal within a year. As long as you install them correctly!
