Thanks Mike this is a fantastic video. No waffling or stupid jokes just the information that we need and very well explained and easy to follow. I liked and subscribed immediately. Cheers. !!
HI 1A Auto, I did this procedure exactly as recommended in this video for 2004 Audi A4.. Everything worked great, I had pushed the upper control are links into steering knuckle and torqued to 30ft-lb.. However after test drive they seem to have very slightly lifted. They have not cleared the bolt, they are in snug in original position... However I can see the little plastic white ring on the ball joint that presses against the steering knuckle. I was wondering if this is normal? Thank you for great video!!
5:45 no.... dont send it in with a hammer lol.... lower the car back to the ground and the joints will pop out much easier with just a tiny bit of prying...... ouchies to those nice ball joints and boots :((((
I have an Audi A4 2012 sline. When I'm stationary and i turn the steering wheel left or right there is quite an obvious judder through the steering wheel. Otherwise the steering is good. Any ideas as to what could be causing that judder?.
+3K Thanks for checking us out! Yes, we would recommend having an alignment performed once the front shocks are replaced. Please let us know if you have any further questions, thank you.
Unless you are replacing the upper control arms, NEVER use a pickle fork to remove them. You will destroy the rubber boots and the arms (don't ask me how I know). Also tthe bottom support mount has to be installed at a specific angle to the axis of the bottom mount bolt - see Haynes Workshop Manual.
He used hammer twice, which time do you recommend lowering car instead and also the tire is off but you said to extract when tire touches floor. thank you in advance for your response
Easier to leave the pinch bolt and ball joints and simply remove the two control arm bolts to get the strut out. That's a big unnecessary step fighting with that pinch bolt.
Rat Rod Studios - DRR Customs Ltd those two Control arm bolts are not easy to get to but if you don’t have an impact removing those would be easier in the event that your fighting with that pinch bolt. But you should try that pinch bolt first.
