This video goes over how to locate and replace a front wheel bearing on a 2011 Chevy Cruze with a 1.8 motor. This should be the same process for any 2009-2016 Chevy Cruze with a 1.8 motor. This procedure would be the same for the left or right front wheel bearing. You don't want to over tighten, but it's better than it coming loose. While purchasing a wheel bearing, there are many options. Depending on how long you plan to keep the vehicle, I would get at least a three-year warranty, which should help avoid any future trouble. If you live in a state without a lot of rust or corrosion, this should be a pretty straight forward process. If not, a hammer or a bearing puller/axle puller set would be helpful. Some tools can be bought and then returned at most major auto parts chain stores as loaner tools so you are not charged for use of the tool. Once done, it is a good idea to pump the brakes before moving the vehicle. 185 ft lbs is the proper torque specs for the front axle hub nut.

just wondering, is there a torque value for the three bearing retainer bolts?
@TheAutoTeacher
@TheAutoTeacher 7 месяцев назад
It is recommended that the bolts are replaced when doing this procedure, using a torque wrench on your first pass torque to 66 foot pounds and second pass with a torque angle meter 60° third and final pass 15°

Great video - any idea if that metal bronze washer / spacer is needed for the abs wheel speed sensor. Mine is broken in half and im struggling to find the part number and/or if its even needed - thx

I believe it is needed for your ABS wheel sensor to work properly. I would call the Chevy dealer and give them your Vin number to make sure you get the right spacer for your vehicle.

Is the abs ring part of the axle or the wheel bearing ?
@TheAutoTeacher
@TheAutoTeacher 2 года назад
The wheel bearing, it has a magnetized Nitrile wheel speed sensor ring built into it.

Dude I’m so lost I bought part 13585467 says no ABS but my sensor isn’t even attached to the hub is there magnets in some but not others? What does the speed sensor even read off of? Having a hell of a time deciding if I should instal these or just return them they look the same.
@TheAutoTeacher
@TheAutoTeacher 2 года назад
13585466 is for Chevy Cruz with no ABS, so if your car is equipped with ABS return this part and get the correct one.If your car has ABS it would have a sensor in the hub like in the video that reads the back of the wheel bearing. You can see it in the hub assembly around 4:40 sec in the video, if you have that then your car has ABS. If you're still in doubt call the Chevy dealer and give them your Vin number, you definitely want to make sure you're installing the correct parts on your vehicle.

What is the name of the tool you are using to clean off the corrosion? Does this tool also come battery powered I don't have an air compressor that's why I ask
@TheAutoTeacher
@TheAutoTeacher 2 года назад
Wheel Sanders or Flap sanders can be purchased for a drill or Dremel tool, some of these are listed at the bottom of the page under tools needed.

Did you replace the bolts for the bearing ?
@TheAutoTeacher
@TheAutoTeacher 2 года назад
No, I never replace them unless they're somehow damaged.

Would this be the same as a chevy spark?
@TheAutoTeacher
@TheAutoTeacher 2 года назад
I'm told the fronts are a press in bearing, which is something totally different than a hub assembly. So no this would not be the same.

You can put in a 225/45R 18 (LTZ Model ) but I would double check with Discount Tire before purchasing any new rims and tires.
@andrescabrera44

@The Auto Teacher I have the RS model which come with 18 inch wheels but when I shop for wheel bearing I only see 15" and 16" options

I would call a Chevrolet dealership with your vin number and check part numbers to make sure you get the correct part.

Not sure, usually a bad wheel bearing will make a humming noise constantly getting louder as time progresses.
