Check your model before ordering the part. My 05 GMC Envoy XL does not have in external filter. It must be in the tank and I confirmed that with a little online research. I've used 1A videos before and they are usually outstanding. This one should start with making sure you can find the filter.

It's not the same for 2006 and after... it is part of the fuel pump assembly and takes hours to get done..they should be more careful about what they post as dates this is for..I wasted money on a fuel filter only to find out it changed location in 2006... (4 hrs labor at service shops, just so u have an idea of how much work it takes on 2006 and newer envoys)

Just like they changes the location of the coolant temp sensor also in 2006..used to be next to thermostat on driver side engine block (behind/under alternator).. 2006 it got moved to back passenger area on engine block... always double check actual specs for your year car.. (Can usually find a service manual for your model/make year online..for free if u look around enough)... best way to know exactly for all ur needs.. always be weary when the tutorials state a large year span that it's the same for..usually it's not

I believe that during 2005 in the Envoy/Trailblazer they changed to the filter being inside the tank with the fuel pump. How convenient! Replace yearly if external, replace when getting new Pump ... after you drop the Fuel tank. 3 man job.

Edmund Jones sadly no i wanted to change mine earlier this week but when i got under the car i couldn't find one so i asked a part dealer and told me that it's inside the tank

FUEL:QUESTION: You didn't mention to empty fuel in a clean pan so hat once the new filter has been attached you can pour the fuel back into your gas tank. IS there even enough fuel that comes out of the lines and filter to be concerned about putting it back into your tank?

I'm just confused because your video states that up to an 08 I own a 2006 GMC envoy but I have stores telling me that my vehicle doesn't have a fuel filter I don't know what to do because I need a fuel pump I don't know if my car has a fuel filter in it I like your videos I just don't know who to believe at this point

You guys should rewrite the Haynes manual. There's nothing in it 80% of the time. Anyway, it doesn't explain the fuel filter. So I came to your video. You don't identify where the filter is located. Im guessing next to the fuel tank behind the cross member? I really couldn't tell on the video so now I'll have to lay under there searching everywhere. You're the 4th video that didn't say location so this sucks. But your other videos have been extremely helpful. Thanks

how do you know which is in and out to get the fuel line back together because those is very confusing i install them last year with my brother and i didnt really know which in and out when bought the fuel filter didnt say it.

Which hose tho, there’s 2 hoses. The filter says out so is it the hose on the left looking at it or on the right.

Yes the line with your "out" on the filter goes to the line with the pressure release valve

2005 has non serviceable fuel filter. None on the frame as in your video. Inside tank. Well crap...I ain't doing that!! Lol.

My 06 is same..waste of time and money on a new filter...should have double checked ... always be weary of the large year spans they say it works for..usually it's not..and I am with ya....too much work to change where it is in ours

BE CAREFUL! THIS IS NOT THE SAME PROCESS FOR 03-08 ENVOYS. IN 2006 THEY CHANGED THE LOCATION. (PART OF FUEL PUMP ASSEMBY. VERY LONG PROCEDURE). I BOUGHT A FILTER THINKING THIS WAY THE WAY..BUT IT'S NOT FOR 2006 AND AFTER. THEY SHOULD BE MORE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT THEY POST.

This is for the 03-08 - if you have a six cylinder...good to 05...this is a V-8 model. In 2006, they deleted the external filter and use a screen on the in-tank pump.

+Joshua Cleary If you are trying to perform this repair you shouldn't have to drain the tank. If you do need to drain the gas tank for another reason, you can get a transfer pump for your local hardware store of Home Depot, to pump it out and into some gas cans. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com

News flash you know I don't know why you people always trying to make a job easier than what it really is... Most of the time those plastic Clips they've been on there for sometime they break so you have to have new clips when doing a job like that because more than likely if the vehicle is 5 years older that Clips are going to break
