Couldn't be easier... I watched your "How To"...and was done in under 20 minutes start to finish! (I was able to use a standard 16mm and an adjustable wrench) As others have mentioned...thank you for pointing out the o-rings. 👍😁
Going to install a k&n fuel filter soon on my 02 sierra 4.3 403000 miles awesome video I like your no BS approach keep cranking out the videos peace and much respect
Very few mention the O-rings and doing a leak check. GOOD JOB Eric!!! I would only add to ALWAYS replace the O-rings. They are listed as "fuel line o-rings" and come in packs of 4, of which you'll only use the two bigger 3/8" O-rings.
I came to the comments cause I was thinking the same thing especially seeing the shape of the one he reinstalled I’m surprised it didn’t break before he had it back on
If someone has messed up the fittings with adjustable wrenches this becomes a vice grip job. Line wrenches or vice grip, your choice. I prefer to use a crow's foot that is made for line work. Great video.
Good video, thank you. Adjustable wrenches are what I use normally as well and if you are careful like you in the video then everything works out fine. Thank you for the information and keep those videos coming. Have a good one brother.
I personally just like using the diamond grip gloves they are cheaper compared to harbor freight and you get more but I see where your coming from just personally I like the ones I use
Hey man appreciate your time to do this video and the 2001 gmc fuel filter replacement as well. I was wondering if vehicle is starting right up and then other times vehicle having difficulties starting up from a decline street is fuel pump or fuel filter issue? If thats usually the tell taling sign of fuel pump? Then I gotta a lot of work to do tomorrow. Thanks again for the educational video.
When I pulled my relay it died right away 😂. I think my filter was clogged. When I cracked the in line tons of pressure 😂😂😂 I was like gowd damn I’d say it’s time
I wouldn't recommend using an adjustable wrench for anything unless it was an emergency situation and that was all I had. Using the correct size wrench can save lots of unnecessary headaches
I’m think I’m starting to realize my 2004 4.3 Sierra does not have a fuel filter. I couldn’t find it and I looked it up online. Apparently my truck does not have a fuel filter?
Why do you pull out the fuel filter relay before you start? And do you have to do that every time on every vehicle? Just trying to understand better thanks
You remove the fuel pump relay while the vehicle is running because the fuel line is under pressure, removing the relay will stop the pump. The vehicle will use up the fuel in the line making it safe to disconnect.
Just something off topic. How's you HF air compressor running? Have you tried any painting with it? If yes, what gun? I'm in the market for a new compressor and I also have to do some painting. Thanks for the videos.
I haven't used it much unfortunately but i keeps up with my Earthquake 1/2 impact. I have seen several videos on RU-vid of people painting with the harbor freight purple spray gun and it does a decent job.
As the fuel filter becomes clogged the fuel pump has to work much harder. It is much cheaper to replace the filter proactively than the pump after it burns out.
You will see a minor Improvement but the filter is just there to filter out the fuel as long as the pressure it's consistent at the fuel injectors you won't really notice a difference
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE thank you man I was just wondering. My truck feel so slow like it struggling to keep up with normal traffic. I don’t want major improvements in just looking for it to run right.
All these videos for 2009 gmc sierra 1500 fuel filter show the filter in the same spot and looking like a typical filter.. my filter is not in that spot or it doesn't look like a typical filter.. I cant locate or identify mine.. anybody know?
Best way is to remove the fuel pump relay fuse first than crank your engine up a few times to depressurize the fuel lines or fuel in the filter and remove the filter.
There is no filter in this location on my 2005 Sierra 1500 SLT Crew Cab…fuel supply and return run all the way to the engine and tank with nothing in-line 🤷🏻♂️
Can this be the reason why my truck is shutting off while driving ? Thanks for the video I’m thinking about buying it I have my truck parked for few months
the vehicle need the fuel to be pressurized before starting if you remove the replay its possible it will just crank doing it this way makes sure the that vehicle starts and the fuel is used up so that when you remove the filter it will have low pressure fuel coming out
Or you can let it sit overnight and the pressure will naturally drain out and you can do it before starting it with very little fuel spills and no pressure. (There will still be fuel in the filter) That's the way I do mine. Very easy.
Tried as the video instructed, but for some reason I couldn’t get the lines to come off of the filter. Lines are very ridged and I couldn’t move the filter enough to slip the lines out. Didn’t want to break the line, so I ended up leaving the old filter on until I can try again. Any suggestions? Remove the bracket?
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE I got the nuts to break loose with no problem, but after that, the lines don’t slip out of the filter easy. I tried pushing the filter to one side as I try to pull the line out from the other it doesn’t come out. I don’t want to use too much force because I don’t want to break the line. Didn’t know if you ran into that before.
@@aj_raider5952 if you haven't unmounted the filter bracket go ahead and try that. It should come off with some force especially if you have pressure in the fuel line
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE i'm sure it's the way the video sometimes distorts things....look at 4:13 you'll see what i mean....tks for the video,i looked on mine and it must be part of the fuel tank.
It has a arrow showing the flow of fuel so it's going to the engine from the pump. It's really not that difficult if you can't figure it out take it to mechanic
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE Thanks man. Don't mean to be a asshole. Just frustrated because of this bs. I have a 2007 Silverado newer model not classic and it's not there? Please tell me it's not on the top of the tank? I just replaced the fuel pump and now it turns off. So I was told to change the filter ..
