The people downvoting this video better be doing so because of how tedious replacing a headlight is, otherwise who the hell is unhappy with this tutorial lol. Incredibly helpful and professional-thank you!
I feel like I owe 1Aauto money for these vids. I’ve replaced my calipers, rotors, & brakes because of these vids. Now I’m replacing the headlight assembly soon and its so easy. Thank you 1AAuto for saving me so much money with these vids. 🙏🏻
Hey, guys, I just spent an hour and a half going and calling around town looking for a T35 Torx bit that even Amazon doesn't carry. It's a 5mm hex head. Thanks.
I have never seen a video with explanation like this for head light replacement. All of 1A auto videos are Very helpful and anybody can understand. . Excellent !

God help me, I just ordered replacement lights. This'll probably be the most in depth car repair/work I've ever done. I'll report back when I'm done... or I give up.
I did it!!! Took about an hour to get them in and (I think) aligned. The worst part was getting the stupid plastic clips out of the fender. Those things should be freaking illegal. Plus, getting them fitted into the frame so that the bolts go back in required a lot of jostling. But I got it done!!
So I bought these headlights and installed them. They’re awesome and this video walkthrough helped a ton. Before I did the install I made sure to have a T35 torx bit. I purchased a whole set on Amazon just to get that size. Turns out it’s a T30 torx bit. Save yourself the trouble of finding a T35. The T30s are EVERYWHERE. But seriously...buy these headlights and follow every other part of this video.
This video was extremely helpful and I bought the headlights from you guys and they are perfect. One note for adjusting the aim however that may help others: The nut to turn to adjust is a Phillips, yes, but it’s also a 10mm head. You can adjust both pretty easily from the top down with the hood open with a 1/4” socket and a shorter 10 mm. You don’t have to do all that finagling with removing the trim and stuff on the passenger side.
Great video, love they don't edit out the mistakes or snags you run into. Replace those bulbs too folks, especially if you know they're old, you have it all apart anyway.
Great video. I would adjust the headlights while the complete bumper is off so you have room to do everything. Replace one headlight first and then adjust your light to match the other.
Spot on. I changed out my headlight assemblies. Took me 2 hrs. I would recommend getting some extra clips though. Mines were crap and I ended up throwing some
Wasn’t too hard. Just time consuming. Bought the headlights from you guys and they were here a day later. Finished the whole job in about 3.5 hours. Anyone who’s thinking of doing it but doesn’t have long extensions, those two bottom bolts in the metal bracket are a real pain to get too. I ended up just taking the metal crosspiece for the fender off. 6 12mm bolts. Once that was off I was able to access those bolts. Appreciate the video
Hi, thanks for the great video, my headlight brackets are rusty and falling off, need to replace them. Can you please tell me how long is the extension to reach the bolt inside behind headlight. I dont have such a long one, will have to arrange something.
great video, very helpful. here are a few comments from someone who replaced their headlights from watching this video you can use a t-30 bit or an allen wrench (#5). weirdly, a t-35 bit did not fit if your civic has fog lights, it unclips on the passenger side. the cord isn't long so don't run off w/ the bumper i used a 14" extension which was plenty long the hardest part was simply unclipping the wires from the old headlight housing- mine were basically glued together w/ old dirt putting the bumper back on was surprisingly easy- easier than taking it off
There's a minor error. You don't need to remove all the clips that hold the curved black rubber air dam like he is doing at 1:31 , just the first two on each side closest to the tires. You can see at 4:22 that the bumper mates with a *straight* panel on the car under the radiator. The car has nothing curved under the radiator, so most of the air dam clips are *not* attaching the bumper. It's not a big deal, but these clips tend to break upon removal. Removing the wrong ones increases the chances that you're left with broken clips.
i looked this up thinking it was to replace just the bulb and not the whole light asbly and was like this is insane to do it this way for just the light but now it makes sense good video on the steps of how to do this.
The video was very helpful. I did search all over town for a T35 bit. Finally found one at Walmart of all places but my bolts were T30s, which I already had. Oh well, I would have spent days trying to figure out how to get the headlights changed
Hey guys, I just purchased the replacement head lamps for my 2009 civic. I noticed in the video title and descriptor that this is for 06-08 only. Are there any major differences for the 2009 model? I assumed this would work for all 8th generation civics or am I incorrect? Thanks in advance and this is a great video!
The process is exactly the same, use a T30 driver to disconnect the grill up top. I think he said T35 in error. This is a perfect step-by-step guide given at a great pace!
Do the headlights you guys sell ACTUALLY have working headlight adjustment screws? I have some clear aftermarket ones currently installed (look like OEM) but the adjusters do not work. If I bought from you guys, would the adjusters work? If not, does the warranty cover it?
8:04 your replacements have 2 silver adjustment screws, why? The factory lights have 1 (between the high and low beam), they have a fake/dummy spot where you guys actually have a screw. What do these do that the factory lights don't?
Is there a way to compare adjustment of the old pr to the new pr? Looks tougher to adjust them than to do the whole job. Maybe the amount of threads showing on the adjusters?
Why not just go behind the wheelwell by loosening the wheelwell cover, and turning the wheel inward for better access? Or on the drivers side remove the battery and the fluid reservoir to access the low beam? Both require less tools, time, and is easier? That how I change mine.
Just my 2 cents- I did the undercarriage push clips last...that way I can tug on the bumper a little and actually see which ones are holding the bumper on.

Man those hidden bolts sure are a pain in the ass good thing they would never rust or become rounded Edit: If you can’t get that bracket off you can take off your fender to get the headlight out. I found that just taking out the one fender bolt next to the headlight one up top by the engine bay was enough movement to get the headlight out
Clear plastic will always fade and yellow when exposed to UV rays constantly. The headlight lenses also fade faster because the headlight bulbs are used more often, and burn much hotter and brighter than taillight bulbs.
I need to change my bumper witha. New one,, but my headlight isn’t in place right do I need a new headlight or is there a way to to move it back into place 2006 coupe EX civic
+Mizzy Since there could be multiple reasons why you’re experiencing this difficulty with your vehicle, I strongly recommend that you have a reputable mechanic inspect it. They’ll be able to troubleshoot the problem and tell you what part or parts you’ll need for the repair.
and after you remove the engine, transmission and gas tank, you should be able to easily install the new bulb. omg, what were Honda thinking when they designed this thing!
Good time to replace the bulbs. Don't put in LEDs since the reflectors are not designed for them. You can up grade bulbs but remember the higher power bulbs do not last as long. Personally I would say no blue bulbs I don't like them. Also if your area has snow or fog lower Kelvin bulbs produce less glare.
5:47 that bracket there that you see is my problem. I stripped the bolt on the one that holds the piece deep into the frame. wondering how to get that out?

+Daniel Gutierrez This procedure might be different for your application. We do not currently have a how-to video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking! 1AAuto.com
People who don't have properly adjusted headlights honestly need to be ticketed and penalized. They are literally a hazard on the road with blinding LEDs. It's selfish and dangerous to just get the brightest bulbs out there and not give any consideration to others on the road.
Video should be titled "How to Replace Headlight Assemblies 06-08 Honda Civic" I was looking to replace just the bulbs and this is way too much work for that. There is an easier way.
This is what happens when designers at automakers put sleek lines above practicality without thinking it through... I owned an '04 Saturn Ion and you didn't even need a tool to take the headlight assembly out of the body... just pull two pins by hand and it slides out. This (Honda) is stupid...
None of this is necessary. Whatever happened to doing things the easier way? You can go through the fender by popping down a couple tabs and sliding your hand in there. Anybody who is actually ripping apart the entire front end of this car to do a headlight has no right to be working on cars.
