Absolutely terrific, very helpful. I had thought it was a lot harder than this. I am so used to unnecessarily complex and bad designs modern cars I'd had a quick look and thought the whole unit would have to be removed to access the blower. My heater has been intermittently noisy for a year and I'd put up with it, I didn't realise it was a drop-out. This saved me a ton of unnecessary toil! Happy New Year!
When my Mom's blower motor went out on her 2005 focus Meineke told her it would cost between $350 and $400 to fix. I found this video and replaced it in 10 minutes, saving her hundreds of dollars. Thanks for this, and all, of your super helpful guides!!!
That's not right that they charge prices like that for something that should be $50 to fix and even that is high but people's time is worth money too afterall
I replaced the blower motor of my focus 2008 today. 3 Torx screws with a ratchet did the trick. First scratched the connectors. Felt like a champ once I had AC again

AWESOME! after watching this video I could replace the blower motor on my Focus with my eyes closed and saved some moola, having to pay someone to remove those 4 screws for me. Thank you so much for this very easy and simple video. I purchased a used blower motor and swapped it out with mine in under ten minutes.
Thanks, the video was very helpful. I have a 2008 Focus. Same part but a little different install. The unit is rotated so the electrical connector is close to the right wall. Also, Torx screws instead of 8mm bolts are used to secure the motor in place. The screw nearest the firewall doesn't have a lot of clearance for the driver to get in there. It turned out that I didn't need to remove that third screw. The problem was that a bit of junk that had gotten trapped in the fan blades and was rubbing against the frame. I was able to get it out without fully removing the unit.
I have to tackle this on a 2008. It was making noise for a while then it would randomly start blowing (setting didn't matter) Then it finally quit. If you have any tips like what size Torx, any other info, or link that would be helpful it would be appreciated. I have been searching all over and it appears the 2008 Focus is some sort of unicorn and the info re: the blower motor is kept on a scroll in clay pottery by monks who live on top of a mountain.

You didnt watch the video? Why would you ask that the whole process Is literally in the video. Also why would you need to be an expert or intermediate to change three screws
2007 with 55k and blower motor makes noise unless I beat on it or run it on high. Had no idea it would be this easy. So many other at least require glove box removal and some even dash removal so this is nice. Ford somewhat thought out things on this car. Mainly the cheap stuff. Too bad they couldn't have had someone to design useful interior and not this weird stuff that ergonomically and conveniently useless
A few things wrong with this. One- not all foci have 8mm bolts, quite a bit have a philips (make sure you have a stubby), two- if you have Phillips instead of the 8mm bolts, have a second person help, for some reason those do not like to line up.
Daughter's 07 focus closer isn't working at all at any speed. Fuse is good. Changed the resister with no luck. Is there a relay for the blower? Wanna try ever cheap fix before replacing the blower motor.
My blower when I switch it on it will sometimes run but at a very low speed with a sound to it and other times just give off a burning smell and not work at all. Should this fix it?
U guys r great. my son has a 2001 ford focus when he turn on the heat, does not heat up that much and it smell like antifreeze and no AC in the summer the blower does work what should i be looking for I'm not a mechanic can u please help i did change the thermostat already

If it’s squealing than it needs some grease. WD-40 with a long tube nozzle or any grease with a nozzle can be sprayed on the bearing. The other noise is most likely caused by debris like leaves or other dried plant like material. Simply clean those out, pop it back in and you’re good to go!

Hopefully some one is still monitoring these videos.06 zx4 focus.My blower will work for about 10 seconds and then gradually die away. and if I don't turn it off then the awful smell starts to build. Sound about right?and if I wait about 10 minutes, I can turn it back on only for the process to repeat..Mind you, winter is upon me and I no longer have heat now.I'd hate to buy something don't need.thank you -Brenden
+Mr.Personality You may want to take a look at the blower motor and the blower motor resistor plug ends to see if they are heat damaged. If they are, you may want to replace the plug end and also the component that it acting up. 1aauto.com
You may want to check the fuse first. If that is fine you may want to turn the heat on and test the power to the blower motor resistor and also to the blower motor with a test light or with an ohm meter. If there is power to the both of them, the resistor or the blower motor may be bad. Also check the plugs to both of these for heat damage. If the plug ends are melted, that could also be causing the issue. Hop this helps you out. 1aauto.com
What if blower motor stops working every time a resistor is changed? I got an issue where sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt... i checked for any wiring problems but theres nothing

Not sure if anyone is still monitoring this video, but I am trying to figure out if I need to replace my blower motor or not- my air wont turn on at all, and the AC button doesn't even light up to let me know its even trying (leading me to think its more electric than mechanical if that makes sense)... I know I have a problem just not sure if the blower motor is the problem, does anyone have thoughts on that?
