in today's video I will show you how to remove and install the ignition lock cylinder for your Chevrolet Equinox. In the video I'm actually unable to remove the ignition lock cylinder because I was not able to get the key to turn to accessory position. As long as you can get your key to turn to accessory position you will be able to press the button and remove the lock cylinder. Also I've been told this ignition lock cylinder has to be programmed to the car or at least the key with the new ignition switch cylinder has to. to program a new key to the car requires a shop scan tool or taking your car to the dealership or local automotive locksmith. also there is a recall on this car to replace the ignition lock cylinder if it's causing a safety issue where the key comes out in other gears other than Park. If it is now broken beyond that they may not cover under the recall but it's worth calling the Chevrolet dealership to check.

Put your existing key in ignition, take a small hammer and wrap on the end of the key while taking your left hand grasping the key and apply turning pressure to it. You don't need to hit it very hard, just speedy wrapping and wiggling the key at the same time, as a locksmith I find this works many many times. If you're lucky enough to get this to the on position you can Turn to the start position then press the retainer your lock should slide out. 06 -and early07s Or not transponder vehicles. Like this one he's showing, there's no antenna around the ignition. On the original factory ignitions there is a code on them. Code series is G0001-G3631 . They stamp the code in a very weird way, the code is spelled out with dimples,As if someone took a punch and wrote the code out by hand. No other numbers on the locks look like this . It can be challenging to decipher. Good luck.

Mine the key would go in but wouldn't turn at all couldn't even put my windows up so I followed your vid step by step and got my windows up and everything but now its in theft mode and won't start or anything would you be able to make a vid showing how to get it out of theft mode jw if you could it would be much appriceated lol thanks bro

Super easy,i dint get the part about code,dose it need to be coded or not can this been done or need to go to dealer,i dont want to remove something if dose not read key

I drove a flat screwdriver into the keyhole with a small hammer, now I'm having trouble with my shifter.... so, I pried out the shift button with a different flat screwdriver, but the screwdriver got lodged in my shifter. Is my best bet to get a large flathead screwdriver and force it into the large gap under my horn pad? o.O

Get a phillips and stick it in your ear while turning the key. The sudden jerk reflex of your ear drum being punctured should give you the extra strength and faster reflexes needed to get the key to turn. an ice pick will also work. Good luck.

My chevrolet equinox 2007 has a tab under steering wheel where the bolts are. If your key is stuck, brake wont enguage, shifter wont move out of park. Take the tab off, put finger up there, move white plastic towards blinker lever.hold it there turn key. When i did it, i was able to remove the key, and both brakes were free to move. When i did it, i had already removed the battery from car. Take care.

Hey Bobbi, I’m having issues with my 2007 Chevy equinox, it was just recently stolen from me, and i just got it back, I programmed knew keys to the car and the keys won’t turn the ignition? Is there any tips you could give me? Sorry just looking for help
