You need a smooth jaw wrench. I always put a little lube on the washer going into the Sloan valve. Good job!

I used to use silicone grease on the nipple o ring but stopped doing that. I now make sure that the inside surface of the stop valve is clean and smooth. A little water on the o ring seems to work best. Also knipex smooth jaw pliers work great.

REGULAR PLUMBERS GREASE,I have literally done thousands of these,and only ude straight up plumbers grease from Hercules!

Another trick if you have one that won't stop flushing is to choke down on the water stop until you hear the flushometer starving for water. This will usually make one stop flushing. If not check diaphragm for trash, etc. I've had little pieces if Teflon stop a diaphragm from seating.

Dude I was replacing a spud on an American Standard this mourning. Only my second one. First time went ok. Today I kept forgetting the trim peace. And the first time put the top nut on the bottom couldn't figure out why trim was not fitting. After my co worker pointed out my mistake It went together no problem.

normal water rough in for water line is 11" above the top rim of the bowl,,, hope that helps

Maybe I missed it but I didn’t see you put the paper/fiber washer on top of the vacuum breaker? Probably why it leaked at the nut.

As a deviant little kid, I would bring a small screwdriver in my pocket when dad would take me and my best friend to the local White Castle hamburgers. I had figured out if I cranked open that uncapped valves on the two urinals, the water would fly out the bottom when flushed. Besides getting some poor SOB’s pants wet, the water would make its way into the dining area occasionally. My friend and I though it was hysterical. BTW that friend is now a retired plumber. 😂

Was just in Las Vegas last week. Every public toilet flush valve had a nut lock on it. Apparently people have been stealing flush valves for brass scrap value.

The biggest problem i encounter is the shut off valve rubber has deteriorated, and you can't shut off the water to service the leeky flush valve.

Hello, I've been struggling to fix our toilet which hasn't been flushing correctly. It is Sloan hydraulic button flush 952, 1.6. When you press the button to flush, it gives out water and starts to flush but doesn't complete it all the way by draining all the water. Pressing the flush button second time it does the job, strong flush that drains the water all the way. It used to flush it all and drain after just one touch of the button. Any thoughts of what it could be? I changed almost every part by now. Thanks!

Mike, it's my understanding that you need a 3/4-inch ware supply for a Flushometer to work. My water meter is 5/8". It I run a 3/4" pipe from the 5/8" water meter should it or will it work, in your opinion?

"wrap it with blue monster" PTFE tape, of a far higher density. which used to be allowed for gas lines, until cheap/knockoff/chinesium made it all useless
