This is a detailed video on how to replace primary (Upstream) oxygen sensor that is located in the exhaust pipe before the catalytic converter. This is a 6 gen J Series Honda Accord and Acura V6 3.0 engine (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002).

Very important for me to know what I should expect to see and where. This video is well lit and very clear. Thanks.

Excellent video! Just did this following this video. Had a engine light on with Code PO132 (upstream O2 sensor). Bought the exact sensor from Advanced Auto for about $81. I rented the same Oxygen sensor socket set for $42. Used a breaker to loosen the sensor, was able to separate the old sensor with one hand while under the car. Did the entire job under the car. Thanks for the post!

@@IgorKadulenkov You answered my only question: can this be done entirely from underneath? I am having the toughest time disconnecting from up top. Thanks to both of you.

Igor - great video! When you removed the wiring harness with 2 hands by going through the hood I was able to do that successfully but the other half of the wire, which is actually the o2 sensor, is connected to a piece of metal in a very tight space. If I pull too hard the metal clip will break and detach from the car, mostly because it’s rusted. Your wire seems to be hanging free. Any suggestions on how to remove the o2 sensor from the metal clip? [2002 Honda Accord EX V6]

Igor, this looks like the downstream o2 sensor. Are you sure you are showing us the upstream sensor? I thought the upstream sensor is in front of the radiator? Thanks!
@BruceAvilla
@BruceAvilla 5 лет назад
Igor is correct that this is the Primary/Upstream O2 sensor. The secondary is on the other side of the small catalytic converter. On 4 cyl., the upstream is on the exhaust manifold across from the radiator. Just did my 2000 v6 today, both sensors.

@@BruceAvilla Hi, I'm trying to replace the downstream sensor on a 2002 v6 Accord after a catalytic converter theft. I bought the Denso 234-4621 but cannot get it to fit, do you have any advice on that? It does not seem the connectors will fit. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Igor Kadulenkov hey I have a question? I have a 2000 acura tl, and my check engine light is on! the code says that bank 1 sensor 1 has low voltage, I was wondering if the 02 sensors are in the same place as this Honda !
@IgorKadulenkov
@IgorKadulenkov 8 лет назад
Hi, i am pretty sure they should be in the same place, as these are almost identical cars. But i am not 100% sure. I would jack up the car and compare what you see with the video.

Thank you for the post. Was the sensor you changed the primary or the secondary and what type of connections, male/female they have?

Mine is so stripped one way but not the other even using torch did nothing . Going to try a 22 wrench 🔧 instead of the O2 sensor sockets

Pb blaster would help loosen it off its threads. Also invest in some jackstands its better to be safe then sorry. 😉 Great tutorial vid. 👍

Thx, i forgot about PB blaster and similar stuff :) I'll add a note on video. Yep, i just don't work that much underneath the car. But yeah, harbor freight sells them for less than 100 for 2 i think :)

Yeah i bought a extra set from harbor freight on sale for $20 when not on sale its like $30 i think.

It’s on the passenger side of the catalytic converter. Take a screen shot at :55, blow it up, and you’ll see the cable coming off the converter. This is the downstream, or B1/S2 for this engine.

Yeah, instead of buying a $200 oxy sensor you could have just cleaned it with some carb cleaner. Don't get angry with me Igor.
