Just replaced the rear and front brakes on my 2007 ES350. According to my local repair shop, my front brakes were unsafe with less than 1mm of braking material. Well, turns out they were still good with approximately 5mm of material left and the rotors needed only a good cleaning. I changed everything anyway. Yes, I saved lots of money by doing this myself but more importantly I learned never to trust my 'trustworthy' repair shop again. Many thanks.

Great video! But did you not need to replace the rear rotors? I’ve only done front brakes and rotors on the front on my 2011 Lexus ES350. My rear pads need changed, but the rotors look good. But my car has 80,000 miles, so maybe I should put new rotors in the back?? Do you have a video showing how to take off rear rotor and adjusting the parking brake? Never done this before

No rotors replacement yet, mine still good. Don't have video for yet.

repairvehicle So how do you know where to adjust the parking brake wheel after installing rotor back on?
@repairvehicle
@repairvehicle 4 года назад
There's a rubber plug in the front of the rotor or in the back. Through that hole you adjust wheel.

Great video thanks. Question you don't need to open the brake reservoir cap and watch the level from rising when you push the caliber in? And also I saw from other videos they open the brake bleeder when pushing any caliber to prevent dirty fluid going back to the system? I'm not sure which way is the right way so please let me know. Thanks
@repairvehicle
@repairvehicle 4 года назад
You don't need to open the cap or the bleeder. What I have done is the correct way.

What exactly does the C clamp do? I’m thinking of trying to change mine.
@repairvehicle
@repairvehicle 5 лет назад
C clamp is to push brake caliper piston back so that you can install brake pads.
@manuelcraig3018
@manuelcraig3018 3 года назад
It's better to compress the piston once you get the caliper off with the old pad and c clamp. But whatever works

You don’t use a torque wrench to tighten the caliper bracket bolts and caliper bolts? If so, do you know the torque specs?
@repairvehicle
@repairvehicle Год назад
On small vehicles like this one I don’t use torque wrench for caliper bolts. However I do use on caliper brackets

hey thanks for your video . I want to know the wheel inside the rotor . if I just use 2 m8×1.25 nuts to get the rotor out without touching the wheel behind rotor ? if it is OK or no ? need to prepare for my rotor change . thanks again .
@repairvehicle
@repairvehicle 7 лет назад
I don't fully understand your question about "without touching the wheel behind rotor" Please explain and I will try to help you out.
@jackluo6827
@jackluo6827 7 лет назад
repairvehicle morning on the rotor there is a plug . when you take out . you spin the plug hole to the bottom you will see the small wheel .
@repairvehicle
@repairvehicle 7 лет назад
JACK LUO, OK I think, I understand you now. You might not have to do anything with the wheel behind the rubber plug. Try removing rotor without touching the rubber plug. If the rotor is not coming off because of the brake shoes then remove the plug and lossen the adjustment wheel. Let me know if I answer your question.
@jackluo6827

repairvehicle I got you . Thanks a lot. you mean the rotor is movable , do not need adjust the wheel. if not adjust the wheel to get rotor out ? right ?
@repairvehicle

JACK LUO, correct.
